Bear141 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 What color whopper plopper do you suggest? Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted February 6, 2016 Super User Posted February 6, 2016 Monkey butt is a good one. But honestly any color, loon, bone, perch, trout, shad......all work. 1 Quote
Molay1292 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Lots of folks buying the loon color. 1 Quote
Bear141 Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Thanks. Have you used I know it? The white one. Thanks molay Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted February 6, 2016 Super User Posted February 6, 2016 The right color to buy is whichever one you think looks good. Doesn't matter the reason. 1 Quote
bassin is addicting Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I ordered one in bone earlier this week. Can't wait to try it out. Will probably get one in loon for night tourney's too. Seems to me like it might have a jitterbug type sound? Which has been awesome for me at night. But can speed up the retrieve on the plopper if needed which you really can't do on the Jitterbug 1 Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted February 6, 2016 Super User Posted February 6, 2016 Jitterbug is made to go slow just enough for it to plop . 1 Quote

Sometimes they want it burned, other times stop and go, then sometimes slow, but when they commit, they commit. 2 Quote

What kind of rod are you throwing the plopper on? Something along the lines of a 6'8" medium power rod with a fast action? Or am I way off base? Quote
Hurricane Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I bought the monkey Butt and the Loon back in January. . Can't wait to try them out.. I can't wait to use it on the Niagara River. . Musky are going to kill it.. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 7, 2016 Global Moderator Posted February 7, 2016 I have had good luck with the shad colored 130 size. I fished mine on a 7' 3" H/F with 50lb braid and it's been perfect for it. 2 Quote
XzyluM Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I plan on picking two of these up in 130 soon. Got two gift cards for a new local shop and they are supposed to get fishing inventory next week. A lot of people tend to recommend the 130 size it seems. I hear the stock hooks are junk though? Quote

Fish a 7'3"H Fast action, but if I'm fishing the 90 size, then I fish a 7'3"M Fast action. Both with a reel that has a 26-28 IPT pick up. Quote
Fisher-O-men Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Get the 130. The smaller one submerges in rough water. Hang on! It is a big fish bait! 1 Quote
camman Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 My favorite is the 130 size in Bone...I think the 90 size is sort of useless as I've had 12" fish take the 130 size. For me I've found a slowest retrieve possible has brought me the most luck... 1 Quote
68camaro Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Just make sure your knot is tied correctly The first tiime out I lost my brand new 90 size on third or so cast due to lousy knot....ugh. 1 Quote
Bear141 Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 I'm going to order a 130 loon and a 90 I know it. Can't wait until the ice melts around here. Quote
backcast88 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I've had better luck on the 90 size for both quantity and quality. I prefer the bone color and have both the 90 and 130 size. I throw the 90 size on a 7'6" mh crankbait rod with 12lb mono and I throw the 130 on a 7' H Duckett with 20lb mono. Both setups work well for me and produced a lot of fish in later December 2015. 2 Quote
thomas15 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I sent in an order, mainly swim jigs to TW and added a Phantom Shad color at the last minute to check out all the fuss. Should be here in a day or two. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 For topwater I think it's just the silhouette and the noise/action of the bait that draws the fish in to strike. If a fish is looking up at a lure from underwater with the light source behind it, it's not really going to see the colors. In clear water maybe a dark or light belly will be noticable, but the colors on the top of the lure, the fish are NEVER going to see those colors. 3 Quote
ACORO Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 All colors seem to get the job done. 130 is a good size and can catch some quality fish but don't let the 90 fool you. They both are great. Color wise I would go loon and I know it 1 Quote
