Puggz Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I'm re purposing my current flipping stick (BPS Extreme 7'6 Hvy/Fast) to a frog and big swimjig rod. What would be a good reel for this setup? I've heard good things (on here) about the Lew's SuperDuty. I'm thinking 7.1:1???? Also, would 30lb PP with a 17lb floro leader be sufficient? tia. Quote
GetJigginWithIt Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Any reel that you like and feel comfortable with will work. It is all user preference. I would up my line to 50lb braid but that is me. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 My inventory is Shimano, but out of curiousity I picked up a ProQualifier on sale two years ago, spooled it with 50lb braid and use it for frog fishing. I must admit it is a husky little reel and works very well for froggin'. it certainly is an inexpensive experiment. 1 Quote
Cgrinder Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 OG Zillion is my pick. 200/1 Conquest HG would be sweet if you like setting money on fire. I think heavy cover is a good place for a round reel if you're into them. Quote
WPCfishing Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I'm big on Lews reels, I use a Tournament Pro on my frog/toad and flipping rods. I did have a Super Duty for a short time. I didn't see the need for the larger heavier reel. The TP is a great casting and very tough reel. I like Power Pro 65# braid, no leader. Quote
