Hi all, just wondering between these two spinning reels which one would be better? I've got a nice Lew's Tournament Pro baitcaster to use this year but wanted a nice spinning reel to use for bass/trout etc. this season (currently use a Shimano Syncopate which is good but would like to upgrade a little), don't want to spend all outdoors on one though and am looking in the $60 - $70 range by which most reviews point to these two particular reels. Just wanted everybody's thoughts on these two.

I bought the President LE more for the novelty of it. It's a very nice looking reel and incredibly smooth during the typical handle crank test. I have not had a chance to fish it but if it compares anything to the original president it will be hard to beat at that price. Which also brings me to say that you could save a couple dollars on buying the LE and just get the classic President. Mine has never failed me in the years that I've fished it.

Thanks for the comment Goose! I actually am looking for the higher speed ratio for a spinning reel and the classic President is the 5.6:1 and the President LE is a 6.2:1 plus it sounds like a lot of the internal equipment is better overall than the classic President and that's why I was looking at it and the Lew's I mentioned.

I just picked up a spinning reel yesterday. Only I was choosing between the President Limited Edition and the Pfleuger Supreme.  The LE is priced at $79 and the Supreme is $99 with a $20 rebate. Basically the same price. I went with the Supreme and got the full magnesium frame. Supreme has a 6:2 gear ratio. Haven't fished with it yet but it's very smooth and I'm really happy with my purchase. Good luck on your choice.

Can't go wrong with any Pflueger spinning reel. I had the Supreme XT and just picked up the President Limited. I really can't feel much difference between them, They also have the same gear ratio.

That LE is sweet.  Played around with one at a local fishing show.  I love the look and the Pflueger quality.  I plan on getting one soon to pair with a new Lews rod with those sweet Winn grips.

I have the Pflueger Limited Edition. Although there isn't much of a notable weight difference compared to the classic, I must say that I really dig the cosmetics. I'm not sure if this is a consistent thing, but the drag on the LE seems smoother than the regular.
