I'm just now getting into dropshotting and was wondering what you guys choice would be between, Abu Garcia Orra s, Pflueger President, Shimano Sahara. The reel will be paired with my 6'10 ml Abu Garcia Ike series spinning rod. I will be fishing this around shallow to medium cover and docks. Also any other recommendations that I didn't list below the $100 mark.

of those 3, the president every time.  for less than $100 (as in $99) you go up to the pflueger supreme which is a very fine reel.

Thanks for the reply. I'm leaning heavily towards the president especially since next weekend it can be had for $49, seems like a good deal. Would you recommend the 30 or 35 size. Gonna be using either 6 lb fluro or 20lb braid with a leader.

I use 6 lb fluoro most of the time, occasionally 12 lb braid with a leader, on a 20 size Shimano.  This presentation is not very demanding, reel-wise, so use what's most comfortable to you.

35 is way too big.  i'd go 25 in a president.  could go 25 or 30 in a supreme due to the lighter weight

I've been following gear recommendations on the forums here for a few years (long before I started posting), and the Pflueger President is pretty clearly the most often recommended spinning reel at under $100. Shimano Sahara might be second. I haven't used the Sahara or Orra, but I own two pflueger presidents and a pflueger supreme, and they are terrific reels for the price. Agree with Allen Der, 35 is too big. 25 or 30 are better. I prefer a size 30 for versatility (bigger spool size and more IPT than the 25), and even the president in this size is not too heavy.

it probably depends on the rod but i can tell a huge difference in weight and balance between my presidents and supremes.  for moving baits a president is fine, but for anything finesse I need the light weight of a supreme to get a good balance point.

If you plan on using 100% Floro, then go for a reel with a larger diameter spool.  I use a Shimano Symetre 3000.

6lb. Seaguar InvizX FC or #10 lb. to #15 lb. braid (no need for #20 lb. braid for drop shot) .

Ended up going with the president 30. I played around with them and put it on my rod and it balanced out well and looking foward to hitting the lake and getting better with the Dropshot. Thanks for the replies everyone.
