Steven Ladner Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Anyone know the best way to go about painting fins on their cranks? I'm working on a bluegill pattern right now and would like to make it somewhat detailed. Right now I'm thinking of just trying a stencil and spraying the fin. Then going back with a toothpick and putting lines on each one. Quote
CCP Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Marc, to get a cool 3-D type effect with the fin is to shoot a darker color.....say transparent gray. Then go over that with a contrasting color such as pearl gold.......now comes the trick...... when you shoot the gray.....don't fill in completely. Just shoot around the bottom of the stencil and edges. Darken the fin at the front where it is attached to the fish a little more than anything else. Then shoot the gold or whatever color you pick out to contrast in the center and it gives a cool effect. Quote
DBatey Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 use a pencil to draw the fine lines on after stenciling the shape of the fin Quote
