mono for frogging

So, curiosity, why are you throwing a frog in a place with little to no vegetation?

If you're fishing places that are largely without vegetation, considering the reel, it is completely unnecessary to use braid and, if you hook into a good fish and have braid that is normally used for frogging (40-65#), there is a good chance you could damage your reel.  I have 15# Big Game on my Black Max and use it for anything from topwater to spinnerbaits to Texas rigs and jigs.  Mono is actually perfect for what you're describing, in my eyes.

Excuse me, mono is not perfect, Berkely Trilene Big Game is.

To catch bass

There is no law that says bass only bite frogs around vegetation!

No bother.  It does well enough for me.  Better options may exist but I have no issues with breaking this line or losing bass due to the line.  Granted I'm not hauling whoppers.  Big bass for me are in the 5lb category.   I do not carry many setups and change my bait over Rod and reel.   For me the 12lb tri line xt does it all except flipping.

I am in the same camp. Big bass around here might push up into the 6 to 7 pound range. I use 14 pound test Trilene XT and bump up to 17 pound test in heavy cover situations.
