I do. But then, I know how to use the rod and the reels drag to fight a fish. I see a lot of people who have no idea how to do that.

14 the heaviest line I ever use.

ok cause i really like mono and i fish a lot of clear water. Im assuming its harder to catch bass with mono because of its stretchyness

Mono can be great for frogging but keep in mind the cover you're fishing, you might have 5-10lb of grass on the line as well. I prefer  12-20lb P-line flouroclear line over mono personally if I'm throwing a frog or other hollow body lure in more open water

Bam! ;)

And that stretchiness thing is over blown!

I frog fished with BPS Excel 20lb mono for years over heavy grass with no problems.  Short casts and I just did not cast it 90 miles away.

You could get by with a mono, but I am in the braid is better camp.

I tried for a long time on mono.  I missed so many fish and I didn't understand why.

I switched to braid and my hookup success increased by 80%.

Frog fishing went from being a frustrating activity to my favorite technique overnight.

Hammering nails aint got nothing with fishing!

If your excuse for missing fish is line then use braid!

How much ya think mono stretches?

Not enough to miss fish!

Walking fifteen miles in the snow both ways aside, if you're a novice frog angler, certainly use braid. It's the right tool for the job.

Braid. 50-65 lb

Every Pro Angler uses it and their livelihood is at stake.

The fish can't see it. Gill nets have caught fish in clear water for centuries. The fish has a brain the size of your pinky nail. They don't see a hollow body frog and say... "What's that silly looking thing pulling that piece of rubber across the waters surface?" They think... "FOOD, CHOMP!"

Will mono work, certainly. So will my daughters Barbie pole, but I'll be fishing a hollow body with a mag heavy swamp donkey super stick. It's by far my favorite way to fish and I've become pretty darn proficient at it. Mag heavy rod, high gear ratio reel, drag locked down, and 50 lb Sunline FX2. Done the research, backed it up with experience, those are the right tools for this job.

Huh! Guess I anit got no experience?

Or Raul?

Or OnthePotomac

Or .ghoti.

Guess all them bass we caught don't count or we were lucky or even a blind hog can find an acorn!

To the OP, mono will work as good as braid!

Not speaking to anyone's experience but my own sir. Hopefully he'll take all opinions into account and make the best decision for himself. Your opinions and fish count, theirs do too, and so do mine.

It aint the rod

It aint the reel on the rod

It aint even the line in the reel

It is the hands holding em!

Someone referenced driving a nail, it doesn't matter if I use my Estwing framing hammer or my Dad's old wooden handled framing hammer. I can start a 16d framing nail & drive it flush with one swing...why!

Cause as a carpenter I know how to swing a hammer!

Y'all think it's tackle that makes a Pro?
