Fishwhittler Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 This is a new small swimbait I just finished. The body with the tail is 3 1/2" long, and it weighs about 1/4 oz. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 28, 2010 Super User Posted July 28, 2010 Very nice looking lure! Looks like it has a lot of action to it. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Nice paint on this one, the red gill looks good. Quote
Crookedneck Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Nice paint job! Killer bait. How is the action on it? Quote
Fishwhittler Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Thanks! @ Crookedneck, the action is pretty good, I just need to run some more tests. It looks like the action is pretty tight considering the angle of the bill. Quote
bassbum85 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Do you add any weight to your lures or is it just the wood paint and hardware that mkae the weight? Ive seen your stuff on here and tackleunderground and am thouroughly impressed so any advice would be awesome. thanks Quote

The only weight on this lure is the hook hangers, line tie, bill, and a split ring and size four hook. Most lures need some ballast in order to run well, but you can sometimes get away without using ballast if the lure is the right size and shape. BTW I use PVC for just about all of my lures, not wood. I like PVC because it's waterproof, very buoyant, and it doesn't need to be sealed prior to painting. @ Crookedneck, I did some more testing and this lure has a tight, hunting action. It dives 0-2' depending on retrieve speed and rod angle. Quote
