After reading the soft body thread and personally having a lot of success with them, I'm curious if anyone here throws hard body swim baits for Florida bass? Just about everyone I know regularly uses the paddle tails, but I've never heard anyone mention the hard bodies.

I'd say 99% of the water I fish is so thick with angel hair algae that its pretty rare I use a sinking bait other than a weedless fluke, Jerky J, or soft swimbait.  I used to use the tru-tungsten small segmented swimbait in tilapia in some bowl shaped barren neighborhood ponds devoid to any growth.

I like to use the spooltek 4 inch fatty perch. It has great action and always manages to hook up to some nice bass, tarpon, or snook.

I've had good luck using Rattle Traps, my son landed this 5 pounder on Monday using one. They seem to be hit or miss though, either they're getting attacked or completely ignored.

I've had some luck with the Spro BBZ-1 shad in bluegill and the sexy shad colors (think that's what it's called). But, as stated earlier by another member, there is a lot of grass/weeds so I only throw it in deeper spots and in the case of the bluegill color, in the shallows if the bass are attacking bluegill beds. I've only used the slow sink models so far.

I throw hard body swimbaits with success down here. They are expensive, but it's all worth it when you land a big bass.
