Usually 10 lb. Izorline mono. I'm going to put some 10 lb. YZH to the test this year and see how it goes.

I really like the way braid "snaps" for jerkbaits.

When you tug at stretchy line, it acts like a spring- meaning the action of the bait is not getting the same thing you're doing on the reel end because that stretch and rebound force is acting across the length of the cast line, not "on/off switch" as with braid. Obviously it works but I just prefer the tight, immediate start and stall feel I get with braid.

Braid seems to be more erratic too, and I love it for jerkbaits.  I know it isn't ideal for treble hooks but I've never really run into a problem with it either.

Smackdown or Gliss are my go-to non stretch lines.  Gliss on my ML rod and Smackdown on the rest.

Just so you don't think I'm 100% against stretchy lines, I do use Tatsu for small swimbaits, bigger cranks and basically any steady retrieve application with treble hooks.

Yzh.

8-12# ....depending.

How do you like the 8lb for jerkbaits? When do you use 12 YZH I thought that might be a bit much.

It's about the same size as 12lb invizx (8lb yzh) so I figured I'd give it a try.

How do you like XXX for jerkbaits? I use it for everything else, I think I'm going to try the 8lb since it's about the same diameter of 12lb invizx.

I should have clarified that I use First String. I have used XXX in the past and really like it, but for the price First String cant be beat. No doubt, XXX is stronger, but I prefer the way FS handles more and is still plenty strong enough for me. Personally I just like Izorline in general. The Brutally Strong Spectra is by far my favorite Spectra.

I like fluoro because of the slack line sensitivity. 10# sniper gets the nod. I've landed numerous northerns with this line while jerkbait fishing too.

8-10lb invisx.  No need to get fancy. If you want to use the reel for topwater just spool 30lb braid with a 10yd fluoro leader and ditch the fluoro when the jerkbait bite dies.

I use 10lb or 15lb mono.  It depends on what kind of cover I am fishing near.

I think you will like the 8# alot. My choice is based on cover, and alot of the time I'm throwing a jerkbait, I'm in 7-12ft of water over thick grass. That's when I tend to just use my fluke/topwater rod with 12# on it.

When I'm jerkbaiting around structure....I use the 10# normally, or if I find I need it to go JUST a bit deeper, I call on the 8#.

But I would say in my area, I use 12# 75% of the time.
