However......

Instead of a menace grub, consider getting a Cut R Worm.

Here you have a bait that has the same excellent Rage Tail design in a single, larger, flapping appendage, that can be rigged in all the same ways as the Menace grub, but can also be worked as a worm as well.

The Cut R Worm can be cut to fit, any size jig or jig head application, or it can be left long and rigged in all of your favorite ways to rig a worm.

Also, it can be rigged weightless and used as a buzzing top-water.

Hmmm...Now that smells like versatility to me.

If the cut-R worm isn't in your tackle box you are missing out!!

I use all of Rage tail products and they flat out catch fish. The Menace is a great trailer on swim jigs and the Rage blade.I never hit the River without Rage tails.I dont think you will be disapointed if you try them. You should really try them out.

Thanks guys will be picking some up, they do look like they could be a solid part of my game plan this summer and give me a different option. That and I have always had good luck with Strike a Kings bluegill color in clear water going back a long time with the Braur flipping tubes.

I am thoroughly convinced to give them a try lol

Now I need May to get here, the offseason is driving me nuts!

They work great....So do the Havoc Devils Spear Rigged sideways..I love the Devils spear for swimming sideways and flat...Topwater, punching....Great bait, the Rage Menace is a great bait that is unique with the flange and it is a nice change up as a swim jig trailer rigged anyway...

I usually rig the Menace flat since I like to fish it solo and on a weighted hook slowly crawled on the bottom...I rarely rig it sideways unless as a trailer..Not sure why, or if it really matters..For some reason I never fish it near the surface now that I think about it, probably kicks up some water nicely....

I have my flame suit ready on this one. This year while I have a decent budget, most of it is going to Zman baits which are not available in WI in stores (I know I had a rant about the Ned the other day, but it is money on the river for me). Along with those I have some of my standards that need replacing so my extra cash for new stuff to try is limited.

What I am looking for are soft baits to rig sideways on swim jigs, I already have a lot of Paca craws and a ton of green pumpkin yum wooly bully's I got on clearance at Wally World a couple of years back that worked well for me last year. I am thinking I can stick with those along with the 100 pack of Kalins 5" grubs I am getting.

The menace grub has been recommended a lot, but seeing that they are a sponsor of the boards I want to know if that plays into it. Price wise they are quite a lot more per bait than what I use currently. Are they better or just different? I am guessing the ridges on the tail will give it a harder kick than say a Paca, so maybe there is a place for both in my box and the Paca is for neutral and rage is for more active. I know some lakes I hit the fish are very sensitive to fronts, so having different actions is a must, have seen it many times.

So I am really on the fence if I grab a pack or 2 to try. Soft baits are our crack, there are so many we just have to try and they just end up sitting in a box lol.

It's a year later, so did you order some and what are your thoughts? I'm looking at ordering some as I type this.

Yes I did and they worked well on a slider for me. The durability in the nose wasn't the greatest, but they caught fish for me. I even picked up a few more packs on the TW Black Friday sale. A nice change up from a tube.

Just a little sarcasm.  That post is over a year old and I still remember it.

I got the sarcasm, but still was trying to gather opinions, and on here certain brands styles have serious fans, so trying to weed through that is fun at times lol.

The biggest reason even today, with all the tackle I haven't used I find myself agonizing over decisions and actually researching baits before I purchase them. The only impulse buys now are clearance items. Having a kid in school and trying to keep her debt after graduation to a minimum means some sacrifices by mom and dad:) I don't want to buy tackle anymore that fills the same niche of a bait I already have.

probably didn't need to defend the thread, but after the day I had I figured what the heck

I have twin daughters in college right now too so I can appreciate where you are at regarding purchases. I tend to research and over research all my purchases too hence why I commented on your post from a year ago.

Hey cgolf, no worries man.    I definitely perform my due diligence on tackle purchases as well.  Seriously though I have that the rage products have all been great producers for me and I find them to be a great value as well.

The rage menace is a very versatile bait though. It can be used as a swim jig trailer, punch rig lure, or even texas rigged by itself.  Get a few basic colors and get to fishing them, I think you will be satisfied.

I did and last summer it was a good bait for me. Picked up a couple of different colors plus refilled another with the Black Friday deal on SK baits at TW. It is nice to have different options, between the Menace, 5" Kalins single tail,. And a tube on a slider jig I can cover a lot of different bass moods and situations. It is truly a unique bait which is cool.

I fished with Fishing Rhino last year.  He uses them and catches 4 or 5 to my 1 with them.  I started using them and caught up.... a little.  Fishing Rhino still out-fishes me when we go out....
