Anyone know where to buy the open ended hook hangers like the ones on Kistler and Bass Pro shops rods? To me, these are so much better than the closed ones for hooking lures on, especially T-rigs. I figured if I could find some, with a little thread and epoxy it wouldn't be too hard to add to my rods. Thanks.

You can make some out of a really heavy gauge wire. Be careful-- I did this to one of my rods, and now the line gets caught on it every so often.

Thanks. I searched a few online rod building sites today and found some. Might be my winter project.

I like those keepers posted in the second link.

Now, do you think adding that would void a warranty on a rod or not?

this one? http://reeltimedesigns.com/DropShotWeightKeeperSystem.html I was going to wrap it with thread and epoxy but I kinda like the tape idea.

I never thought about the warranty, but I guess you could just take it off before you returned or sent back the rod.

What mfg/make of rod are you adding the keeper to? If you are real worried about warranty then you gould go with the Fuji® EZ Keeper..

Checking the Shimano Limited Lifetime Rod Warranty & One Year Rod Warranty

I didn't read anything about adding a hook keeper to the rods were it would void the rods/factory warranty.

If you used the Reeltime keeper set up and instead of doing a hard attachment with thread and finish and used just the tape (ease of removal for warranty inspection) I see no reason that the warranty would be voided.

If the keeper is professionally wrapped and finished like the guides on the rod, I doubt that the factory warranty inspectors would notice it being there in a hurried day...
