I realize that it's unpopular to challenge the establishment around here but all of these threads being moved are getting a little absurd. If you go down through any thread on the General forum you could pick out a bait mentioned, a reel bragged about, a tournament expererience....etc. So you could technically move almost every thread to something specific but is it really necessary?

Just noticed all of a sudden all of these threads moved today...the page looks a little silly to me!

How many lashes do I get for this?

This is because the topics were not posted in the correct place to begin with. So mgmt is actually doing us favor by moving these threads in the correct forums. ;)

No lashes.

I probably move the majority of posts, especially OUT of General. The selection is based on "predominate theme". For new members and topics that I do not consider "clear",  we leave a note that the thread was moved and the location where it has been placed. The goal is to to keep the Forum organized and provide structure. Not everything will fit perfectly, but thought always goes into a move.

No worries, just never seen so many moved at one time. Thanks for the response and saving me the lashes! LOL.

Where a post is shouldn't matter Inow my opinion. If moving it gives someone a better chance to find it and get what they're looking for, good.

Well, I have been gone for a week, down to Texas for the birth of my newest grand daughter! Catching up a little today.

^^  This ^^

Typically new people just post in the General forum by default.  We move them, leave the "moved" notation to help them understand where it should have been posted.

Soon we drop the notification if it's the same person doing it; and if it turns into a chronic issue with a particular member, then we start deleting instead of moving.  But it rarely comes to that.

You will be fined some of your reputation points for this infraction! No go and start at least 5 "What is your favorite" threads.

I move quite a few post as well. I'm probably a little OCD about it, but I like things where they belong.

I don't want to have to go to general to help with reels, tackle to help with knots, and other species to help with line and rod choices. Having moved notations is far less annoying than looking through six sub sections for one subject.

I don't have a problem with it as they aren't difficult to find.

There are those rare examples such as where a post is made with a generic overarching subject, but it may mention a lure and it gets moved to the tackle section.  Moderators sometimes make mistakes about where to place posts also, but the vast majority of the time they are spot on.

I had actually thought of mentioning that there was a whole lot of posts that were needing to moved.   It was very noticable.  It must get tiresome for mods to have to keep moving threads because posters are too lazy to look to see the detail of the separation of the forums or to read the "read this before posting"

Staying between the lines seems restrictive sometimes and I agree some topic moves seem over the top. The other side of the coin can be caos and this site does a great job keeping order and members feeling free to share information without the secret PM sent replies, unless the reply has a rule infraction, but even PM's can get bleeped.

It is was it is, there are many sites to choose from and I have chosen this site.

I think it's silly, too, but then again...I don't really care.

I only 'View new content'....I wasn't aware anything had been moved anywhere  :)

Same here, unless I'm looking for something specific like
introductions, flea market...
