Best Terminal tackle storage ideas to prevent tackle getting mixed up.

i have tried multiple ideas and boxes and i like to have all my hooks(treble, bluegill, crappie /bass), swivels, weights( bell singers and split shots), snaps etc all in one box like a plano 3700 series.. problem i have is once i organize it i can not tilt the box or flip it upside down because eventually all my tackle will side under the dividers or over the dividers and get mixed up.

what do you guys use to keep it all organized where it can be tossed around in a boat and dont have to worry about it

Weights - I use lots of smallish boxes sorted by style.  1 box for tungsten, 1 box for drop shots, 1 for internal tube weights and so forth..

Hooks I store in their original packages and sort by style.  I use those zippered pencil bags you get at Walmart for a dollar each.

Anyway there is one bag for tx rig hooks, another for drop shot hooks, a third for wacky rig hooks you get the idea, I think there are nine or ten bags all told.

I carry too much variety to try to make it fit in one box - AND I have the room in my boat to carry a bunch of stuff.

I know how to cut back and just carry what I need for one day, it is just that most of the time I don't have to, so I don't.

Super glue the dividers in, on the bottom and in the side grooves. Also glue a piece of non skid shelve liner on the underside of the lid. You'll be able to turn it over and shake and nothing will move.

There's a few terminal items that I use constantly - 2/0 to 5/0 EWGs, bullet weights (1 or 2 sizes), round drop shot weights and line pegs. These are in a small Plano "mini-magnum" style box that stays up front with me on the boat.

Then I have a two larger Plano boxes (3600 I believe) that has fixed dividers for the rest of my stuff. I put a sheet of cardboard on the underside of the lid, and on that I have a layout map of what every compartment has.

I like the system of different boxes, because If I find that I'm using a lot of finesse hooks, for example, I can easily just swap it out or add them to the smaller box and have them immediately handy for the remainder of the day.

I use a standard Plano 3601 and I have never had stuff come over the dividers. That's the extra thin box. In several the normal thickness ones I certainly experienced it. You'd want the 3701 I suppose.

I use the Plano 3601 as well and never had a divider problem but 1 did come out today. No big deal I was considering doing the superglue or some type of glue that works well on the plastic. But over all I like being able to lay out my dividers as I want them.

I use one whole Plano 3601 for my Flippin stuff exclusively Hooks,Tungsten, Skirts, rubber bobber stops etc.

I also have one smaller 2 sided clear Plano Medium Double Sided Organizer #3450 . It hold an amazing amount of assorted weights, hooks and stuff for its small size. I use it for my more common used terminal stuff like EWG hooks etc. Oh I really like it has 2 latches per side so if one doesnt get latched completely I dont have a huge mess in the floor of the boat.

I keep the bullet weights, split shots, and smaller size hooks in empty medicine bottles from the pharmacy.  They fit in the 3700 box, and the cap on the bottle keeps the stuff from spilling all over.  I just write on the label with a Sharpie.

I cut a peice of foam to glue to the top of plano boxes, and glue the dividers to the base. That keeps everything where it needs to be.

I bought the regular/shallow Bass Mafia box a few weeks ago from Tackle Warehouse and I have to say, that thing is sweet.  What a premium tackle box that thing is.  The red color and Bass Mafia logo is pretty cool.

Putting hooks and swivels on a safety pin helps keep them organized and together.

I think it was about two years ago now I switched over to the Plano 3701's for my terminal tackle. I've got one for hooks and one for weights and etc. Since I switched to those I haven't had any issues with anything sliding over/under the dividers. If you are looking to use what you have though and modify it, you can super glue the dividers down. Otherwise, you can get yourself a roll of aquarium airline tubing, split one wall of it so it forms a "c" and slide pieces of it over all the dividers as it'll fill the gap between the top of the dividers and top of the containers. For something like split rings or swivels you can either keep them in small bags, or if you want something waterproof, you can pick up some contact cases. Put your stuff in there and label the lid.

The Plano terminal tackle box is what I use.  Anything else I have the same problems with tackle sliding under dividers and getting mixed up with other tackle.

I’m up to 2 big flat Plano boxes of terminal tackle.  I like the idea of super glueing or epoxying the dividers in

I have tried everything and I am back to multiple 3700 plano boxes and keep everything in the original packaging or I put it in a lot of small watertight ziploc bags and rip the package label off and shove it in the little baggie and keep it in the 3700 box.  I have 5 3700 boxes for terminal tackle - weights, heads, hooks and such.

When I go fishing I use the small 3600 boxes with everything thrown in I need for the day.  After going back and forth and having to throw everything away once, when it got wet and everything was in a 3700 box but loose - I am sticking with this.

I've tried about 100 different ways of storing terminal tackle. It's pricey, but I'm really impressed with the Edge box so far. Wish it was just a tad deeper, but that's just nit picking

- 3700 Bass Mafia Box, either double deep or normal size, depending on the amount of tackle you want to store.

- go to the dollar store and purchase cabinet mesh used for holding dishes in place, glue it to the top of the container

- go to the local arts and crafts store and purchase 150+ 2" x 3" craft baggies.

- cut out 2" x 3" notecard from hook packages

- label accordingly

- put the hooks in the baggies and weights and all your other terminal tackle

- remove two dividers from each section of the coffin to make room for the baggies

- organize the baggies accordingly, put bigger hooks on the bottom

- purchase desiccants from amazon, place 1-3 in every compartment.

THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST TERMINAL TACKLE METHOD NO CAP

I absolutely love those boxes. In fact I have switched over to using them for everything. As a bank and kayak angler, they offer so much efficiency, its the best I have found yet.

Small 3449 model for terminal tackle.

Another 3449 for zman Ned baits and terminal tackle for Ned rigs.

3450 for lures and jigs.

3500 for soft plastics.

The Cal Coast Battle Box is the best way to keep terminal. I can keep everything in separate canisters and pull the canisters I'm using out and put in my pocket. Never have to worry about dividers moving on me. It also comes with round labels to put on the top of the canisters so you can easily see what each on has.

I realize I don't have a boat, but I do have a kayak.  With limited space, and with me needing to keep things simple.  Here is how I store my terminal tackle.

Went to my local Kroger, and asked if they'd sell me a hand full of prescription bottles (they ended up giving them to me).  I label the lids with each container's contents.  Keep them in my box/caddy.  Easy access for me, and nothing getting mixed up together.
