Super User A-Jay Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 I'll guesstamate about 55-60 give or take a few. But about one third of those are designated as "Pike only baits". That's for two reason's really; first it means they've caught pike before and second, after that they're usually fairly bent and often somewhat mangled. A-Jay 2 Quote
FlipSide Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I've only got about 20 or so. Chatterbaits on the other hand... Lol 1 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 I've probably got 10. Really it's all the same brand 2 different weights, different blades and colors. 1 Quote
Airman4754 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I fish three types and I have three of each in two different weights. Every year I buy a few Wal-Mart cheapos with gold blades and rattle can them bright orange. A place I fish frequently has a huge goldfish population and the bass crush these Rustoleum beauties! 1 Quote
alzun664 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 3. I like to keep it simple so I change out the blades or skirts if needed to better fit a specific situation. Or I'll just fish something else entirely if the spinnerbaits arent getting it done. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 31, 2016 Global Moderator Posted January 31, 2016 I have a few dozen, almost all War Eagles. They're far outnumbered by bladed jigs. 1 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 I've probably managed to collect a couple of hundred over the years. I don't think more than 50 or 60 make it into the boat bin to start the year. I probably carry another 12 to 20 chatter baits and a dozen or two buzz baits. I went through a period several years ago, when I bought a bunch of spinnerbaits. Not so much the past few years. Quote
UKCATSBASSER Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Maybe 20-25 ish. Mostly 3/8 in white, white chart, shad patterns. I feel like swimbaits and square bills have made the spinner bait second fiddle. However in stained water or windy conditions I'll take the spinner bait. Quote
SNK Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Around 10 or so. Mostly white and white/chartreuse. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 Probably around 50 or so of different brands, colors and weights. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 I have 9 boxes, but I make my own so I have them separated into catagories. I have 30 high speed spinnerbaits, 15 slow roll spinnerbaits, 10 wake spinnerbaits, 10 all-purpose spinnerbaits , and 20 small spinnerbaits. The small ones are 1/4oz models with double willow configuration and the reason they are all double willows is because I use the small ones only during clear water situations. This is an abnormal amount but it is because I make my own so I'm always trying new blades or tweaking the wire form size which leads to a high number. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 Spinnerbaits and rods are like women's shoes - - - you can never have enough. I have no idea. Probably around 60. 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 80 Spinnerbaits (roughly 4 spinner bait boxes full) 40 chatterbaits (1 full 3700 series boxes) Close to 750 jigs (27 of the 3700 series boxes in every style imagineable) 2 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 The current count is 13, mostly white, chartreuse, black and almost all double blade, colorado front, willow rear. The Bait Monkey disapproves, and believes I should diversify my holdings. However, in about half the places I fish, I don't use anything with a blade on it unless I feel like getting piked. Quote

Super User Raul Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 The one who dies with the most stuff -----> WINS !!!!! I stopped counting when I got to 100 and ........ I pretty much fish with the same 5 I´ve been fishing for the last 20+ years, all I do is renew the skirts on those and sharpen the hook. Quote

It has been a progression over the years to find exactly what I like/prefer for different times of the year and types of cover present. Considering getting into tying of various jigs which could lead to even more. Part of the reason for the large quantity is a enjoy collecting them and 2nd is I fish them more than other bait. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 2.And I never fish with them.I am going to make myself try them again this year.Just haven't done well with spinnerbai ts Quote

About the only time they come out for me is in windy conditions. I have about a dozen. Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Fifteen or so, mostly older Stanley's. I only replace them when one breaks. I change out blades, and I've shortened the arms on a couple. I have another half dozen made specifically for pike fishing. Quote
Evan K Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Before this year I hated spinnerbaits, never caught a single fish on them. After having some phenomenal success this summer with them and finally figuring out how to fish them right, I've fallen in love. I've gone from 2 (plus a handful of older ones I never used, and subsequently traded) to... (opens spinnerbait wallet and counts) 12. Which I think is probably enough for me. I likely won't buy a ton more. Quote
