MRG Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I won an online auction on reel from Japan. The seller sent me the following message: Thank you to buy my goods. It will quickly shipping the goods. Please check the tracking number after the shipment notification. Please message before you open the case when no goods arrive on time. Safely I hope that the goods will arrive. Please message unknown thing. To you we are grateful. Thank you very much. You think it's going to get here OK?? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 30, 2016 Super User Posted January 30, 2016 Perhaps once the reel arrives safely you could respond with something like this ~ "Thank you for message to sending The good arrived of shipping Please must be notification on time empty box arrived No safely goods for me No grateful living here man" A-Jay 6 Quote

See how that turns out... 2 Quote
John G Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 The Japanese are some of the nicest people that I have dealt with and a little bit of a broken message doesn't bother me at all. The real shocker for me was that I recently received an order from Samurai Tackle and they packed up a bunch of candies from Japan to celebrate the new year. 4 Quote
shaggydog Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I would never buy from an auction site. Quote
Murrica Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I have bought some things off auction sites and they were shipped from Japan. They always have great communication and like @John G said they throw in bags of candies from time to time. No reason to be worried. They just type what they want to say in google translate and hope it comes out ok. 2 Quote

MRG Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Just now, A-Jay said: Perhaps once the reel arrives safely you could respond with something like this ~ "Thank you for message to sending The good arrived of shipping Please must be notification on time empty box arrived No safely goods for me No grateful living here man" A-Jay I think it might be best if I simply message him an unknown thing when the reel arrives. 1 Quote

It will look the same to him. 1 Quote

Evan K Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Translations from Japanese or Chinese to English are the greatest. So funny. And I'm guessing the other way amuses them just as much. Quote

First of all I hope you are purchasing from someone with a reputable reputation and by that I mean across the board not just JDM. With that said there is nothing out of line with what was written to you, some have better communication then others because of the language barrier. They are thanking you for buying their goods , they will be shipping it right out, they will be sending you a tracking number, they are asking you to contact them if it does not show up on time rather then open up a complaint against them, they hope there will be no damage to your shipment ,message them if anything goes wrong and they are very grateful for doing business with them. Pretty thoughtful people wouldn't you say !!!! 5 Quote

Super User Darren. Posted January 30, 2016 Super User Posted January 30, 2016 Translations from J-to-E are rather difficult for non-native/non-trained English as 2nd language people. I see it all the time when I frequent the Japanese tackle sites. But I do know, from personal experience with Japanese in business, that they are extremely honorable, and stand by their products. That said, there is always an exception to the rule, but I've not come across a Japanese person that didn't treat me with utmost respect, despite having that loss-in-translation thing going on, LOL. That way the seller and make fun of that response! 2 hours ago, John G said: There was more but the wife and I have already ate some. You think it's going to get here OK?? Pretty sure I just bought a reel from him 2 weeks ago. Regardless, I have dealt with tons of Japanese sellers on the auction site...all exemplery. Like has been said, theres often little treats included. The reel I received 2 weeks ago was nicely wrapped in ornate cloth and included a hand written card from the seller and a picture of him and his wife and child. 5 Quote

I probably need to brush up on my Japanese; nonetheless, I think this should be an appropriate message when the reel arrives: 安全にリールを提供していただきありがとうございます。それは美しい日本のリールです。私はゴジラのような日本のものを、好きです。あなたに、私は今、感謝しています。 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted January 31, 2016 Super User Posted January 31, 2016 I've gotten candy too from JLS. Not sure what that's about, but it's a nice gesture. Quote
