Does anyone use a fish camera regularly? I've always thought it would be helpful to actually see the bottom or structure I was fishing. Any brands to recommend? Length of cord? Lots of cheap Chinese cameras on Ebay. I'd love to hear any and all experiences.

I use the AquaVu. I currently have the small handheld one with the color screen and the built in recorder. The cable on this one is 50 feet.

You can take a close up look at "cover items" but in my opinion you will not have the depth of view even in really clear water to get a feel for "structural elements".

It is something of a time bandit activity on the water. You drop that camera down, start looking around, then you realize you just ate up 30 - 40 minutes of fishing time. These cameras are not a huge help in fishing in my opinion when compared to a fish finder but if you are fascinated by what is going on down there (as I am) they are kind of cool to have.

We only use ours when ice fishing. We watch the fish snub our offerings but it's lets us know if they are there. In order to see anything with those thngs you need to be right on a spot and if you are on the spot the fish are off of it. I guess you could use to scout areas and come back. I have a side scan for that.

I have one brand new in the wrapper I'd sell you for $175 shipped. Had the same idea then never got around to using it. PM or email bowhunt160bucks @gmail.com

I had one but I ended up selling it because I spent more time messing with it than I did fishing and unless the water is really clear, you can't really see much.
