I can't help it, I know It probably doesn't work, but i just think It would be cool to play around with. Has anyone had any success with the LiveTarget Hollow Body Field Mouse?

Yes I have used it down here with success. I like to use it around Lily pads.

I've used the brown colored one.  It was okay, but I ended up loosing it to a musky.

Oh boy .... I bought it after seeing my boater slay them on one in a tournament.  That thing attracts them like no other topwater in the pads has done for me.

It might be hard to tell in the picture but I had the "legs" (skirt) torn off and the plastic around the weight had a tear in it from all the strikes which I fixed.

I noticed it was very easy to walk the Livetarget mouse, but I never got a bass to bite it. I caught a huge frog though

I have caught nice bass on the field mouse. Isn't has tough as the LT HB Frog though. Takes in a lot of water, to much for my taste. I still have several of them though. When the topwater bite is on but they are finicky for the frog, I will toss the mouse. I also have the LT Sunfish, looking forward to see how it produces this  Spring.

The Field mouse is legit, I am just not sure if it is better than the Snagproof mouse since I have never tried that one. I picked a few up on sale last year and figured they would give the fish in some of the pressured places I fish a new profile.

I did some research and found out that the tail apparently comes off easy, and that it takes on some water, so I fixed that by adding some silione loctite seal to the hole where the hook enters, just not too much as you want it to compress, but usually it is not an issue. If you walk them fast they have a nice roll and will take on some  water but with a little glue you can fix any frog/mouse...(Sometimes a slow sinking hollow mouse or frog is actually effective especially if you have a fish stun it or miss it. Viva makes a small mouse/Frog that is designed to slowly sink and it actually works well but I have never used it....

I have caught fish on them, and also glue the tail to the body and that helps, but even when you lose it it works fine, if not better since it can't get in the way of the hooks during the set. You can always just glue a floating worm to the back if you want it to be perfect looking. 

I find the LT Frog to be perfect out of the package and one could argue it is the best from pound for pound depending on preference. The mouse needs some modifying to get better hook sets.

YOU HAVE TO BEND THE HOOKS UP, IF YOU DON'T THEN SOMETIMES WHEN YOU SWING, YOU WILL COME UP EMPTY SINCE THE HOOKS BURY INTO THE BACK OF THE MOUSE. The frog often will seperate from the hook, not sure if that is designed but I like it, but the mouse needs those hooks adjusted if you want to land more than you miss. I learned this the hard way, and had one of the largest Bass I have ever seen blow up on a topwater when I was throwing it mid day in open water just messing around. I gave the fish enough time to where my line was moving since I was nervous and set the hook solid and when the mouse came back both hooks were stuffed into the body....

It may make it more prone to catching weeds, but I actually don't use it in heavy cover, I use it in open water and love casting it onto the shore and walking it into the water...It has awesome action and is fun to fish, I actually prefer it without the tail, but instead I add a few strands of white skirt, any extra stuff in the back of a hollow body frog or mouse etc. just gets in the way imo..Don't worry about lost body parts...A wounded mouse missing a tail is just as likely for a bass to see then one with a tail if that makes sense...It is a good bait after modifying....

Just my opinion, but I have noticed on blogs that other people have had the exact same issue of hooks going into the body....Hope that helps..I wish I had my hooks up higher and still get upset just thinking about it...My friend thought a big alligator jumped into the water...I hate when he tells the story, it makes the fish seem really d**n big and it was...But I missed it, and it was Live Target's fault, that is my story....Good Luck

I have one and I havent caught anything with it.  Top water baits are not my confidence bait though, so I really only fish them when nothing else seems to work.

I love the field mouse. I use grey and black in the small size and I have a big one in the white. I can walk it better than a frog. It's always tied on in scattered pads. I have yet to get a fish on the big one, but the small one has caught a lot.

X2 with that water intake. Sometimes every 4-5 casts I have to squeeze the lure to remove the water. Sometimes you waste a full retrieve when it fills with water.

As mentioned, these do tend to take in water quite easily. I've also found that small fish like Pumpkinseeds will "blow up" on them because the tail looks like a big fat juicy worm.

Ive been using it for a while. Its better in open water than it is in cover because it tends to roll. I also end up losing the tail after 7-8 fish, and after that its useless. I like the standard white and grey mouse color.

Reserecting an old thread but I just used the mouse for the very first time and lemme tell you it gets bit! It casts a country mile with my frog setup. Straight retrieve was the ticket but it did tend to wobble from side to side but the fish didn't mind. As far as taking on water it did a little but not to the extent that some people said. IDK if they tried to fix that since 2016 or what. I use the gray/white small mouse. Funny thing is I had no action throwing to the pads. All my strikes came in open water over submerged grass.

How often do bass even eat mice? I'm sure a bass would at least give a mouse a passing glance, but is it a common occurrence? How often do mice really take to the water? I keep seeing lures like that and the Combat Rat becoming the new fad topwaters.

Bass will hit ANYTHING that creates a commotion on the top of the water and that they think will fit in their mouth.  They are opportunistic feeders.  I've seen them eat baby ducks, snakes, birds and most anything that is live and they can get their mouth around.

I haven't caught anything on mine. I tried it a couple times only to cut it off and put a frog on and then have success. 

I'm sure it can work at certain times in certain places. I did catch about 12 one evening at my buddy's pond on the SPRO Rat.

Bass in deeper lakes are less likely to be looking at the surface for a meal when there's so much forage below. But ponds and shallow waters are a different story. I've caught bass on the SPRO Rat in ponds. But the hollow body mouse has not been as good to me as the standard frog.
