BenFeuersteinFSU Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Anybody have some reviews on these rods? I see good reviews on Tackle Warehouse, just thought I'd ask for some more opinions. Quote
Robert Riley Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I've got the 7'6" MH winch. It's a good rod, use it for DT10s, 6/8XDs, etc. I also have a Dobyns D806, which is the bomb, so I'd probably recommend a champion over the abu, but there is a bit of a cost difference. But for $100, the winch is a good rod. Not the most sensitive, but has a good bend and that's what is most important for cranking IMO. 1 Quote
BenFeuersteinFSU Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 I'm not looking to spend Dobyns type money. I'd love to try them some day thought! The really attractive thing about these is the positive reviews and the price. and if anyone could comment on the durability i would appreciate it. I've heard the regular veritas rods are very easily broken. Quote
Robert Riley Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Not trying to sell you a Dobyns, but they do have a crankbait rod in their Fury line up, just ordered a 705cb. I've had my winch for about a year and had no issue with it breaking. I did break my heavy veritas frog rod (not the designated frog rod) after 2 fish, and they replaced it promptly. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted January 28, 2016 Super User Posted January 28, 2016 Personally, I'd take the Ike delay series over the Veritas. Much better blank in my opinion, and only $30 more. What are you looking to throw? Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I just ordered a Dobyns Fury 705CB this offseason too. Looking forward to giving it a try. If you sign up for American legacy fishing newsletter you will get $25 off a purchase so the Fury can be had for less than $100. And look at the reviews the Fury gets. 1 Quote
BenFeuersteinFSU Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Would the 705CB be okay for shallow cranks and square bills? As well as deeper cranks. I always thought a medium moderate was better for the shallow stuff. Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 It says the 705 is for lipless cranks. I don't think it would be great for deep cranks. But don't take my word read the reviews on TW. Quote
