cottny27 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Hi, I always buy a reel and take it apart and do a semi tune. I polish the spool shaft and ends. I remove the pinion and polish the inside and out with a dremel and semichrome. If I'm just focusing on the spool, is there anything else I need to polish that will be beneficial? Again, not looking to do a full supertune. Thanks. Quote

cottny27 Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 Anything more that's related to the spool that I could polish.. Quote

Spool shaft and the inside of the pinion gear are most important. That's about it.Make sure you flush your bearings to get the most out of them. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 What you're doing pretty much is a full super tune . Only thing I do differently is a progression of abrasives. Lots of new reels have a pretty good finish on them to begin with. If the reel has brass tension spacers polish those too. Quote
