Nicholas Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I am a new bass fishermen who fishes in minnesota. I am looking for a new casting rod for this bass season mostly to learn on but i already know how to fish bass i just want to get better on it. My price range is about 50$-110$ and i want a nice rod. I also have never used a baitcaster so i have hopes of learning to use one on this rod. I am thinking of the cabelas bass tournament ZX casting rod for jig and worm but i would like a second opinion before i go buying a rod. (I am very experienced in northern, ice fishing, and panfishing so i am not clueless) Quote
oomph Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 check out enigma rods, it's on the higher end of your budget, but a quality fishing rod. I recently saw them at the fishing show in VA, lots of rod for your money. http://www.enigmafishing.com Another good rod would be Abdu Garcia's Veritas. Quote
SPECIAL ENGINEER Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Your best bet to get the best rod for your money is definitely buying used. sounds like you are going to be starting out with one rod so I would recommend something along the lines of a used G Loomis MBR843 IMX or St Croix Avid 7' MH/F. Both are great multipurpose rods and I have seen them both sell for under $100 If you don't want to buy used there are a bunch of similar threads covering this topic: Quote
SPECIAL ENGINEER Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I don't know what part of Minnesota you are in but there is a Loomis GL2 on Craigslist in Bemidji for $35. Same seller has a couple Lews reels for 35-75 depending on model and ratio. You our could have a pretty good rod and reel set up for ~$70. I would probably look into it if I wasn't so far away Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Check out the St Croix website. There are a few nice choices on sale within your price range. Quote
