A local pond was totally iced in yesterday and 80% open today. On the water about noon, I fished only 10 minutes til a  pickerel  hit a jerk. WT 39.5-40.5 moderately  clear.I fished a break line of  a different kind today,right along shoreline ice. Jerks were the order of the day,they would not touch my black jigs as before.

Air temps were good with only 1 hot hands pak needed. One pickerel was tail walking with most hits less than the normal slash.The wx is looking good several days out.

3 lmb===1 just under 14"=1 just over 14" ==1 ==15"

 10 pickerel

5 yellows

Thanks all.I was out yesterday on a new to me lake. With only a few hrs to try,I beat the banks for one 15" lmb and two dinks+one pickerel.

LMAO.I made a moonshot cast into a tree branch I failed to see.It is one of my best lures and I had to get it back.Hummm what to do.I tied the anchor rope around the net handle and on the third throw I got it back. It was a video moment "for shore"

I `m glad I didn`t have to explain what I was doing to anyone.

Great to hear from a true die-hard, C22. And...Neat breakline.

I have a pond I've been considering my winter laboratory. It's small and easy to cover so it makes for a good test pond. Unfortunately, it's only had one thaw enough to break ice, and that was over a month ago.

Anyway, that thaw left about 50% of the pond open, and I spent 8hrs without a bass! There are no perch or pickeral (active in cold water) to keep things interesting. I began to suspect that most of the bass were actually under the remaining ice. It was too punky to walk out on but I wish I could have. Either that or the bass were dormant, or, they didn't like anything I did, and I did a lot in those hours. Waitin' on the next thaw. :whistle:
