I've been surfing this posting area, again, have not seen you, folks commenting on this reel, CHRONARCH CI4+150 Bait-caster Reel.

Asked about set-ups and recommendations on rods and reels, that, I bought. Must of made guy mad because, he hasn't answered back after I re-posted the corrections, and apologized, for not knowing the symbol of Diawa, that was on the Ballistic EX 3000H, (missed place box) and I didn't know rod usage for MOJO BASS rod. (OFF TOPIC) Never did play well with others...lol

Well, at the risk of making some one else mad, (THAT WAS NEVER MY INTENT). Did I just get suckered by salesman or is this a good reel for $265.00? I did get free 10lb. Trilene mono(green) spooled on it. FYI, BASS FISHING, paired it with the St.Croix, MOJO BASS MJC68MHF, 6'8", Medium-Heavy power, fast action, SC3 (I guess that refers to the graphite), 12-20lb., 3/8-1oz. I was thinking of using it for skipping docks, and flipping and pitching. Wondering, If this reel would be better used on different rod, was told MOJO BASS, one was frog rod?

Got some really good detailed advice from cool members, but that post listed all my stuff in one post: PREFECT MATCH, maybe to much to fast, I'd just joined.

Oh, To clarify, I'm not sure, if the letter after the Capital C, is a the letter i, or #1.

What do you guys think? Any comments, I'd be grateful for, Thanks in advance

I've fished with the Chronarch before and I really like it.  Don't know much about the rod, but the specs look good for dock fishing though.

Sweet reel on a decent, multi purpose rod.  Spinnerbaits, jig/worms, even big top water or square bills.  I like that length for short distance casts.  You can probably pitch and flip (you should be able to do these casts on ANY rod and reel you own), but not in the heaviest cover.  For that you'll need something heavier, and probably longer, and a slower taper.  It's a good length for skipping.  Just go out and fish it - you'll finds where it fits best for you.  Sometimes general recommendations don't fit for everyone's style or ability.

The reason to buy the CI4+ is it's light weight reel. Being a composite hybrid the reel isn't a high durability reel to be abused. I don't believe the Mojo Bass series rods are light weight state of the art rods and see no reason to use a light weight reel on this rod.

I have CI4 reels since they came out with the material - no issues with durability.  The new updated Mojos are much better than previous gen.  They use the higher level SCIII blank.  If it balances well, and feels good, it's decent pairing.  My reels are ALWAYS much higher end than my rods.

Chronarchs do NOT need to be "commented", period.

Chronarchs, no matter to which series they belong, are pretty much the absolute finest you can purchase while still being "affordable", the next step up is going to cost you no less than 100 bucks more.

I would love to hear, your rod recommendation for that reel, I was going to have that "Delaware Tackle custom rod maker, make me one.

I've had my wife make satin pillows for this one, at that price, lol.

My first boat was going to be that Phoenix, 65k Bass Boat, they are high quality/through-out, even their trailers and re-sale value pretty good. Not to sure on, Tracker re-sale, but Tracker was only 25K, so, I thought I'd use the difference to equip Tracker with quality equipment, that I could use on Phoenix or BassCat second boat. Figured, if I didn't sink the Tracker 190, fiberglass boats would be O.K. They don't like new boat guys, plus man those thing fly on the water, Tracker only gets to around 48 mph. those things hit 60+, and insurance is crazy, on anything runs faster then 50. Sorry, Off topic.

looking forward to hearing from you.

Had to read your post like 5 times to understand all of that... :annoyed1:

The Chronarch Ci4+ is an awesome reel from the feedback I hear. I can't tell you from personal experience (I use Curado's and Citica's), but I can tell you that any Shimano reel $130 or more is going to be a great asset for you.

I would try to avoid paying retail for anything, so I won't comment on price. However, you will not be disappointed in the Chronarch Ci4+ for general bass fishing. I have one and it's a solid reel. If I was on a tighter budget, I'd have more. Someday I'll have to trade the Antares in for children, but it is not this day.

I've also seen no reason to be concerned with the durability of the Ci4+ material. Unless, of course, they all start exploding at the five year mark. We'll know next (?) year!

Thanks, Raul, That is, what most of the people, say on other sites. Don't scrimp on reel, when you're trying to learn, skipping docks and different techniques.

The first bait casters I bought were 100-125 dollar range Combos. (only used Spinning reels before). Man, I couldn't even set them up, (bait-casters) and returned them. Man, I knew that they kept those in locked cabinets for some reason...

Priceless feed back, Really Appreciate it...

Worm man, look into changing the ADHD meds, and let me know when you want to go fishing. The answer to your questions are on the water not online.

They were the finest until shimano painted a curado white and called it a chronarch. My d series chronarchs are probably my favorite reels.

Good to know, maybe I have the curado, mine is gray.

Thanks for your comments

Nope the curado was the chronarch e.

I've never used the ci4+ chronarch but I've heard good things.

That rod series is very nice, I would have to check out that model. I know you listed the spec but the manufacturers do not all have the same specs.  Let say we were talking about an Abu Garcia Veritas (about a 100 dollar rod). They are nice rods but their MH 7 footer is going to be heavier in action (not physical weight) then say a Powell or Quantum rod.  It is true generally for most of Abu's lines. That is not bad, as long as you have the stick in your hand to access the rod's  action.and taper.   As for the reel, here is just my opinion.  The Chronarch and Chronarch CI4's have been terrific reels.  You may have been able to get a fine reel for less money but these Shimano;s are terrific.  I run some Diawa Tatula and Tatula R reels that are less money but very nice reels. Lews also makes some really fine reels for a less money as well.  In the Shimano line I may have also had you look at the Curado I 200 which retails around that same 140-to 180 range which all of the previous reels fit into.

I have a Abu Garcia rod, PRMAXC701MH, 7',medium-heavy, 3/8-3/4oz., 10-20lb. 01F14BK, it came on combo, Frog Stick? It's the heavies, (small block Chevy) compared to the others,

Quantum Escalade ESCS701M, 7', Medium, 8-14lb.1/4-3/4oz. paired with reel,ProMax7.1:1 ratio. (Plastic swim baits)?

Quantum Escalade ESCS661M, 6'6", Medium, 6-12lb., 1/8-1/4oz.paired with Quantum Escalade 7.0:1. ratio (weightless soft plastics)?

Not sure of taper action? on any of these.Got them at DICK's sporting goods, 1/2 price. Any advance would be appreciated.

@Worm Man 2020

I have looked up many of the topics that you started and just wanted to offer some friendly observations

Several of your posts are difficult to read. The grammar and punctuation makes it a little harder to understand what you are trying to say or ask. The thing that creates the most confusion for me is when you start adding some comments that are almost like you are narrarating your own post.

I'm guessing that you are probably posting from a phone and having some autocorrect issues.

I am honestly trying to help you here so don't take what I'm saying the wrong way.

Read the first paragraph that I quoted. Read it out loud slowly and accurately. It doesn't make sense.

It does seem that your thoughts are all over the place, similar to how many people with ADD come across . Myself included(especially when I don't take my adderall) In one post you talk about getting a custom rod built by DVT then something about satin pillows and then you transition into explaining why you didn't purchase some other boat. This didn't have anything to do with anything that was being discussed and made me think "what in the world is this guy rambling about."

I am fairly new to this site as well and everyone has been extremely helpful and very nice.

I think the issues you have been having are due to the fact that it is difficult to understand what you are saying.

Try making shorter concise posts. (I am still working on that part myself)

Wow, see what you're saying.. Forgot, that I was in the rod, reel, and line forum. was jumping back and forth, between boat forum, and  I thought that WRB, member had just replied to something I posted earlier, elsewhere. Like I was talking to someone in real time. New to this whole computer internet, Please forgive me, for barking.... that was rude! For that, I'm truly sorry.

members: reason, EvanK and rippin-lips and all that reads this, Please except my apology!

I have been all over ! Like a kid in candy shop, this site, my notes, learning typing, posting in multiple forums and having so many questions , in 3 days. Please excuse my confusion, and hope I didn't lose some cool members/friends.

First lets cover the Quantums, The 7 foot Medium should throw small to mid size crankbaits as well as texas rigged plastics.  I mentioned a rods action and taper previously. In this case the action is medium but the rod could be a moderate, fast or extra fast tipped rod.  The taper helps determine the rods "best" use.  I happen to have a Quantum 7 foot MH rod that I love.  It is listed as having a lure weight of 1/4 to 1 1/2.  The taper is very moderate and let me explain. If I hold the rod to the floor and gently bend the rod its bend goes very far from the tip back halfway to the handle. This means lures that require a slower reaction time for the fish to get a hold of the bait would work well with this rod. Baits like crankbaits, rattle trap type baits etc.  I believe the entire line of Escalades are that way, more moderate. If however only the first 30 percent of the rod bent than it would be closer to a faster tip.  This along with a rod that only had say 15 percent of the tip bending (a extra fast) would react too quickly and most likely you would lose many of the bites with that type of tipped rod and these type baits..

Your 6'6'' Quantum spinning would work well with plastics  like Kalin grubs, all sort of creature baits like lizards and tube baits, craw imitations etc.  I recommend both texas rigs and jig heads like Lucky Strikes Perfect Worm Hook.  It is a combo worm hook with a built in worm weight.  They are terrific on lot of plastics.  This rod should be good for drop shotting as well.

I would have to physically check out the Abu since I am not familiar with it.  It could potentially work well on big jigs and Carolina rigging, just not sure till it was in my hand.

Anyway  I like the Escalades, for the regular price they are a decent rod, at half off they are a steal.
