damian19s Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm getting the Fenwick HMG for my Shimano Stradic 2500, and I'm going to be getting it in the 6' 6" length. Now I fish senkos a lot and drop shots. I usually thow spinnerbaits on my baitcast but I sometimes like to throw spinnerbaits and light jigs with a spinning rod. I've never tested the stiffness in an HMG and for those purposes should I go with the M or MH? I sometimes fish deep (15+ feet). Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 25, 2016 Super User Posted January 25, 2016 I have had multiple HMG's, go with the M. Quote
illinifan4152 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I would go with the Medium as well. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 25, 2016 Super User Posted January 25, 2016 I'd go MH and are there space or other reasons why you need 6'6"? I've got the HMG 7' MH and I like the additional sensitivity that the MH has - compared to the Med. Quote
damian19s Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 I'm a kayak fisherman, 6' 6" is my go to length because of the confined space. 6' 6" has also worked well for me shore fishing too. Are HMG's a stiffer kind of rod or softer? Are they in between? Because some companies ratings are different from other rods. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted January 25, 2016 Super User Posted January 25, 2016 I've got quite a few HMG rods purchased over quite a few years and frankly, the powers and actions of like labeled rods very significantly. I've never purchased a rod without inspecting it personally in-store... oe Quote
