Road trip to Kerr Lake, Va. 4 guys all from Pa,2 bass boats. We traveled down to arrive just after dark to a rental house trailer in a camp ground.I go in ,make the arrangements and the clerk said  continue on down to the first lane ,make a right and your rental will be the 3rd "Full Moon " trailer on the right. No problem ,we got parked, started to unpack to go in. I had minor trouble making the key work ,but it did.We went in and it was a "WOW" from all of us. What a nice place, really furnished to the hilt, color tv,the works. One guy notorious for hogging the hot water jumps in the shower and lathers up.I`m still in awe about the place so I`m looking around checking it out. I open a closet door to find it fully loaded with clothing and shoes. Then I opened a chest drawer to find some really personal womens things.

Ah man. I went back outside walked a few doors down to find the trailer we really had rented, one like you would expect for the money paid.I ran back to the first place and issued an abandon ship. 20 mins later we are settled in the right place. In about 15 mins I look at the first place to see lights on with people moving  about. We decide to leave it alone, didn`t want the clerk to lose a job.. Can`t imagine the scene if the owners came in to see 3 of us drinking beer, watching tv and the other with just a towel wrapped around his torso.

Next day we caught some fish and headed for home port late afternoon. We rounded a point to see my fellow boater being towed by an inboard /outboard pleasure boat. Not far to go ,so  they went on.The I/O started to overheat so they removed the hood and continued on. Some how a 12 yr old boy managed to stick his hand down into the engine fan blade and whacked it  badly. My buddy wound up going to the hospital with the family to take  care of business.

Next day we figured out that  my friends boat that just came out of the shop had lost the LU drain plug and it seized up. Other than snagging  a goose  that flew right into  a cast  with about 20 shoreline people watching and a flat tire on the way home, it was just another typical trip  for that crew.

Tell me your story.

My brothers, my Dad, and I headed to Hampton VA (about a 3hr drive) with one of my dad's friends and his kids to spend the night at a relatives house. This was in February and we were towing the boat to go to the Outer Banks and try for a bluefin since the weather was nice.

Woke up at 2am in Hampton to start the drive to Oregon Inlet. Everything went smoothly and we made it to the ramp around 4am to put the boat in the water and make it offshore in time to have the lines out before the sun came up. Well my little brother broke the key off in the ignition of the Yukon that was pulling the boat WHILE IT WAS STILL RUNNING, and we couldn't figure out how to get the key out or shut the car off. After 30 minutes of fumbling with the keys we managed to get it all straightened out and put the boat in  the water. Whew, dodged that bullet!

Everything is good to go and we start heading out of the channel, then one of the twin 150 yamahas quits......

The best thing we caught that day was a plate full of breakfast at a local pancake house, and a heartbroken 5 hour drive back home.

We had planned a camping trip in the Ocala Nat.forest in the 90s.My wife was off so she started early with the kids to a swimming hole on the way to our camp choice(Buck lake). So the plan was for me to meet them at the swimming hole by 630-700.(I got off work at 5).So I get everything loaded up and get to palatka without incident. When I realized I forgot bait shrimp for the trot line.So I stopped at a b/t store , get the shrimp, get back in the truck and my batteries dead! So I get 2 different people to try their cables but its totally dead.So I'm standing there wondering what to do next and a third vehicle pulls up.OLD f-150.Driver gets out and asks if he can help.I said it would be nice if he could take me to the closest parts store(I have no idea -I'm not from palatka and no google back then.Shoot - no cell phone either.)So the old man with the truck says( or rather he SLURS) there's one right down the road and we'll go there if you'll drive. So he's drunk as a coot and I start off driving the truck and he's giving me directions but he's drunk so he's waving his arms and trying to help me find find the parts store. After about 50 yards I realize that if you were rating the brakes on a scale of 1-10 with o being the worst it was  maybe a 1.I had to stand up on the brakes to gets to get any result. So we make it to the parts store and its the girls first day on the job.And 100 batteries to choose from. After 15 minutes it ended with her statement " I'll get the manager".So we get the battery, get back in the truck, and clickkkk. Now his battery is dead!!So we go back in the store and get the reluctant manager to break out some new cables and get the truck jumped and I drive the back to the b/t store.I get my battery in and thank the drunk and start on my way.But now his truck won't start! So I try but its no go.And him wanting me to take him back to the parts store. But  I just didn't have the heart to drive that truck again. So I justified it by telling him I was late meeting my family ( which I was) and I left him there cussing. The truth is,I didn't think my wife could find the campsite and would be driving around lost in the woods. So I get to the swimming hole and no family. So now I'm not sure if she went on to the camp or went all the way home.(Remember  no cell phones)So I choose to go to the camp because its closer, and I'm driving around the lake in the woods and all of a sudden, my middle son jumps out of the palmettos and says Hey dad!Never been so glad to find them.So we get the wife's 4 wheel drive stuck and the next day we all get the runs from drinking water from the melted ice in the cooler.I don't remember if we caught any fish or not.!!!
