I have been wearing my Carhart bibs and coat when fishing cold weather which works fine other then being a little bulky, how ever they are not water proof and now that I am fishing in tournaments as you know sometimes you have to fish in not so perfect weather conditions.

I have been checking in on the Bass Pro 100mph Gore-Tex  rain suit. Every body I have talked to and everything I've read

has been positive for the most part but before I pull the trigger on it I wanted to get Bass Resources nations opinion.

Thanks for any feed back or other options.

I've had mine for five years or so and I can tell you they are worth the cost and then some. I fish Muskegon Bay every April (missed last year:()

It is invariably cold, rainy and windy. After four hours on the water, everyone else is frozen, wet, or both but the only discomfort I feel is in my hands.  As I'm a growing boy, I may need to purchase another set of rain gear for cold conditions and I wouldn't dream of looking at anything but the 100mph. BPS. I'll likely hang on to my current set just in case I get back under 200lb.

I've been through 2 sets in 2/3 years because the seams keep coming undone. The zippers suck and velcro came off the strap on one of my wrist so now my arm gets wet when it's raining and the strap is always flapping around and getting stuck in my reel or in the way when I'm changing hands during my cast. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't. I had a set of Cabela's Guidewear for over 10 years and they were still going strong. Unfortunately, I bought them in highschool and "outgrew" them.

I've been super happy with the h20 express extreme softshell suit. (Black one).

Believe it or not, I have found the perfect solution to this problem. When the weather is that bad, I stay home.

I agree but when fishing a points league tournament series sometimes you have to go out however if we don't  do better then we did last year it won't matter if stay home on those adverse bays.

You can always go with a more affordable option. There's some pretty good suits out there now that you don't have to mortgage your home to afford.

I know a few guys with the rain gear suit from Academy that they bought on sale for right around $100 total that have been really happy with them. It even looks like the 100mph/Guidewear suits.

Check out the Frog Togg line. I know they're marketed and have a reputation more as a wet suit than an insulated, below zero, all pupose blizzard wear.  But with a few layers of warm clothing underneath you can be just as warm and less bulky for less.

Just an option.

If shopping at Cabela's don't forget to get giftcards online at a place like CardPool to get an extra 11% off.  I do this with Cabela's and BPS, completely legit.

Thanks did not know that

100 mph and Cabela's Guidewear have always been the best, but I heard the UA stuff is good too. Not sure about Huk.

I've only got the top at the moment, and after a few years it's one of the best purchases I've made. It's kept me dry in the rain and warm during the cooler months. You can buy the liner to make it warmer, but I found that the liner for my Columbia winter coat zips right in so it keeps me comfortable right until ice up.
