Super User *Hootie Posted January 23, 2016 Super User Posted January 23, 2016 If we only had today's money, and 1978's prices. Hootie 10 Quote
Evan K Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Oh my. Wish i had that old catalog- bet that's a lot of fun to browse through! 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted January 23, 2016 Author Super User Posted January 23, 2016 Yes it is. I have catalogs up through the 80's. It's interesting looking at the limited selection of plastics, and colors. Probably only about a dozen different colors of worms. Hootie Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 23, 2016 Super User Posted January 23, 2016 If I had catalogs from that far back, my wife would have a heart attack! LOL. Time to take some pix and show us what was offered back then! 3 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted January 23, 2016 Super User Posted January 23, 2016 3.99 for the catalog seems pretty steep for the times! Now they send me a dozen each year for no cost! 2 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted January 23, 2016 Super User Posted January 23, 2016 I'm too young for 70's BPS catalogs, but I remember getting them as a kid in the 80s. I used to flip through them over and over, dreaming of one day owning every worm in every color... a dream that, to this day, goes unfulfilled, but not for lack of trying... 2 Quote
tander Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I probably had that catalog. When I started back fishing last year, I guess I was remembering those old prices. I got sticker shock when I starting buying new lures. $4.00 was an expensive crankbait back then. 1 Quote
primetime Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I think I once saw an old bass pro Catalog from the 80's sell for like $50 on Ebay....I then went a dug up a few of mine I had from the late 80's and early 90's and I must have been into circling every item I wanted...which was 90% of the fishing stuff. I guess Collectors will pay for anything rare...that is an awesome looking catalog. 1 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted January 24, 2016 Super User Posted January 24, 2016 I bet the guys who buy those old catalogs for $50+ are the same ones who complain how spending over $100 for a rod is ridiculous. 1 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted January 25, 2016 Super User Posted January 25, 2016 If I remember right that 1978 catalog is the first I had . My first order included a couple of black Blakemore C C spinners [Charlie Campbell } . I was just getting into baitcasters and needed some heavy lures for casting . LOL My second club tournament and first with baitcasting gear , I won with those big spinnerbaits . I wish I still had a new one for sentimental reasons . Heck I wouldnt be able to resist the urge to open her up and fish it . Best wake baits I ever used . 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 26, 2016 Super User Posted January 26, 2016 That's cool. 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 26, 2016 Super User Posted January 26, 2016 I've got the spring master catalog since the mid 90's. I'd was a crazy kid. I'd spend hours going through those catalogs making wish lists, checking out what was new for the year, drooling over everything I wanted to try haha. I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who saves stuff like that. It's cool to look back and see what was offered. 1 Quote
