Mercury 60, good condition, supposedly less than a 100 hours, are these fuel injected? He wants $8200. He says it's well worth it. My plan was to get a deal this winter when deals could be had. Have I found my "deal"?

Input appreciated.

Really? This guy at work was telling me to jump on it. He said that 10 -11k was common for that boat.

Guy still owes 7500 on it.

The craigslist.org doesn't have too many for sale but the few it has are in the 11 to12k range.

I'm not looking to buy a certain price boat, but 11 or 12 definitely isn't the deal I'm looking for.

I made a mistake looking on NADA. I gave you the price without the motor upgrade and trailer. $10k-$11k is average retail.

If the boat is really in as good of shape as it appears and your reeady with the money I say jump on it.

Thanks for the replies.  I looked at the boat and trailer and all seems nice. The boat is actually bigger than I thought it would be.  I wasn't really looking to spend that much money but I just might.

Keep looking and don't be in a rush.

Big investment and the motor is the most important item on the boat.

Have a certified Mercury dealership check out the motor for you.

I sold a 2004 tracker pt175 last year for $8000.  This sounds like an awesome deal, I'd jump on it.  If you change your mind later you should have no issues selling it once it warms up

Make sure you know exactly when you can expect the title.  At least you know up front they guy still owes on it.  I didn't go thru a deal a few years ago because the seller wasn't upfront about not having the title and was vague on what he owed.  I didn't have a good feeling about the whole deal.

What I'd do in this situation: Meet the seller at the bank that holds the loan on the boat.  Write them a check for the balance due the day of the sale, write the seller a 2nd check for the balance.

Walk out with a signed over title and/or a notarized copy of the fulfilled loan agreement, get the seller to sign over the title and send it to whatever agency in your state that will get you a new, clean title with your name on it.

I am a "Trust but verify" guy.

Thanks for all the replies. The state of Alabama doesn't title boats. I decided to spend a lot more money on what I really wanted instead of getting a great deal on something I didn't  really want.

Ranger z175.

You will be a much happier camper for sure! That is a beautiful boat.  Also if you get the urge for a larger, faster platform, it is a Ranger, so it  holds its resale value well!!!  Congrats.

Nice rig - I like the layout and storage, I suspect you'll like it.

Thanks.  The beauty and styling was very eye catching. The attention to detail was very appealing, but the real kicker was I can stretch my legs out and sit comfortably. I'm very tall, so that's rare in anything, much less a boat. The price was right  as well .

I checked the price - not nearly as expensive as I would have thought.

The local dealerships wouldn't budge from 28k. I said fine, Cabelas has it for 26.5k. Screw you. I went and got another 1k knocked off and tax and all got it for 26.5k. Cabelas  threw in a $250 gift card and Ranger threw in a free boat cover $200 gift card, and two free Mustang vests and boat ratchet tie downs for the rear.  It has a maxxum 70lb variable thrust tm, and maybe another option or two, I feel good about the transaction.

I'd feel good about it too.

Congratulations Bass newborn on a fine looking boat and financial savvy in buying it!  I'm sure it will be a great fishing platform for years to come.  Good fishing, JB
