preach4bass Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 I bought three of Matt's baby bass swimbaits in LM. They came in last Friday, and I fished with them (and swimbaits in general) for the first time last Saturday. I caught a bass over 5 lbs.. The guy who owns the pond I was fishing came up and I gave him one. He caught a 6-10, and later in the week a 6-14 off of the baits. We went fishing Thursday evening and I caught a 8-1 (the 2nd biggest bass I've ever caught). Then, this morning, I went for about 15 minutes and caught a 7-1. I also lost another big one who threw it back at me on the jump (I had my rod in the air like a dummy). Over 5 (didn't weigh) 6-10 6-14 7-1 8-1 All that in a week of fishing these baits. Needless to say, I've got another order in. I ordered three more baby bass in LM, and my buddy ordered some in SM and some of his bluegill swimbaits. I've been swimbaiting for a week now and I'm hooked! If you haven't broken down and ordered some yet, let me give you the link: mattlures.com Quote
Lightninrod Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Now that's some PREACHIN'!!!! Super results with a superb bait! Dan Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 13, 2007 Super User Posted May 13, 2007 I had some success with the bluegill fished on beds last month but I cant make myself just chunk the swims around all day. I probably should but I havent done it yet. That day will come. Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 My first baby bass came today. BTW For anyone who doesn't get these baits becuase they dont have a swimbait rod, get one! I can cast mine without hardly any trouble on a 7ft medium. Anything in med/heavy will work just fine! Quote

Start throwing swimbaits and you're liable to turn into one of those annoying guys who comes to the weigh-in with only 2 or 3 fish (but good ones) and beats all the guys with fivebasslimits! ;D Quote
Cephkiller Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 All I know is Mattlures are the only thing on my Father's Day wish list this year. I couldn't convince my wife she needed any for Mother's Day or I'd already have some ;D Quote
Guest avid Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 My two most succesful swimbaits are a matts baby bass and a 3:16 mission fish. I sooooooooooo want to catch one on a hud. Quote
Mattlures Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 preach4bass thanks for posting. This is why I make baits. This is what drives me. Yeah I make little money too but when I am burnt out and tired its things like this that keep me motivated. Thank you. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Baits MADE BY fishermen and designed to catch BIG FISH. Deadly combo, especially in "big fish" states Kudos Matt Quote

We don 't care if you make money Matt , you deserve to make money after all the love you put in them. Now, when are you gonna pour me ones with a weedguard ? so I can fish them with confidence in that lake full of flooded timber and biguns. Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 15, 2007 Super User Posted May 15, 2007 BTW Matt, I lent my friends "Tapa" & "Zorro" a couple of my Matt 's BB for his trip last weekend and they anhilated them Zimapan big mommas, 1 8 pounder, 3 six pounders and several fish in the sub 5 class, not bad huh ? Quote
edbassmaster Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I just received mine in the mail two days ago. I got male and female 5" bluegills. I havent used em yet...I feel like I just bought a Lamborghini...not an everyday driver I bought a 7' All Star and a Shimano Corvalis 400, they felt really good to me. The 7'6" rod just felt way too big for me. Besides Okuma was sold out of the 7' 6" that was recommended to me here. I will try it and see how it feels on the water soon. Thanks Matt. Is there anything we can do to try and promote these for you or do you got that covered? Quote
Banor Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Just got mine in the mail yesterday. Male bluegill. I spent a good half hour just holding it and feeling the texture and carressing it. Am I disturbed? Do I need counselling? I dont have time for more meetings. B Quote
Captain Cali Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Great baits. Must have for any swimbait arsenal. Quote

RKS3 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Hooked 5 last night first time out with the baby bass... 1 5 lber boated the rest came off after tangling me up. One was at least 7 lbs saw it jump out of water. Ordered 3 more today...Had to sharpen that hook after getting it hung up several times and super glue the body around the back hook.. Is there a trick to fishing these around heavy cover and not getting hung quiet as often????? Matt please send mine out asap! Richard S. Quote
