I'm looking at a well priced bass tracker tf 2012. To me, I'm a very big and tall guy, it seems like the recessed deck would be annoying and make the boat feel smaller. What do you guys think about your experiences with either?

I just traded in a 2014 lowe skorpion bass boat for a lund rebel 1600 ss for exactly this reason only difference is I wanted the recessed casting deck ,I didn't feel comfortable having a deck that was almost level with the sides I find the lower casting deck to be safer at least for me..and a vee hull better than a mod v ....

I like having a gunnel.  If you have several rods on the deck and fighting fish or fishing in rough water I knew I would have money rolling or getting kicked over board.  Looked at the Nitros and frankly that and storage space made it a quick decision to look at other brands.  Ended up with a Ranger.  Best ride, good storage, most room behind the console, the "flying console" allows rods to be slide back the deck and allows alot more deck room, amazingly stable both fishing and running WOT.

A lot depends on your fishing style. If you do much pitching/flipping, a recessed deck is a pain. For more open water, especially in rougher conditions, not so much.

To me a recessed is alot better, If you think about it you really only are losing 8 inches or so of deck. Me personally i like recessed because its alot harder to kock stuff off, and if your anything like me im pretty clumsy lol

Flat decks can be very dangerous when fishing alone in cold weather or at night....easy to step off into the water!

I prefer recessed decks.

but not a lot like a walleye boat...

Mine are maybe three or four inches below the gunwales...

...enough to stop stuff from rolling off or getting booted landing a big fish...but not enoug to get in the way while I'm fishing.

That's a good looking rig man. Clicked the pic and saw the other pics on photobucket.

Yeah...I like it a lot.

Not sure why they didn't sell like crazy, but I found this one two years ago (it's an '05) with less than 4 hours on the motor, bought it on the spot.
