Glad to hear you're enjoying your New Pro V Bass boat - Mine should be at the dealership later this week. I have a 2000 Crestliner Fishhawk that has the same problem. I didn't realize it at first. When the 2 of the screws first came loose they only raised a little bit, unnoticeable, until I pulled my motors cowling off and laid it on the boat deck and scraped the **** out of the of the cowling. I was ticked. But it's a 14 year old boat, so it's a different story. Shouldn't be happening with a brand new boat. Quote

I have been very impressed with the HELIX 10 SI GPS KVD - love the large clear easy to read for the old guy eyes screen, very tunable as far as sensitivity and functionality is concerned. Totally happy with the Side & down imaging, switch fire sonar and I'm just starting to get into the Auto Chart Live Mapping functions. The included unit mapping is OK but pretty basic. You really do need a supplemental mapping card and one can supplement / update the maps with the Auto Chart feature - which is pretty cool. You can also overlay your AutoChart Live maps on existing LakeMaster® or Navionics® charts to reveal new details. Despite all of that - there's a bow mounted 360 imaging unit in the works . . . A-Jay Thanks for the info. The basic sonar functions are essentially the same between the 798 and the Helix 10 so I'm really upgrading for the bigger screen (and my eyes are somewhat "older" than yours ) and for the Autochart Live feature. My little lakes only show as silhouettes on the Navionics charts and have no depth readings or contour lines. The Autochart is ideal for smaller waters like I fish. AND, you don't have to upload anything like the Navionics chart-making system. Sometime between now and the beginning of next season I'm thinking there will be a big honkin' sonar unit on the dashboard of my little boat to replace my 798... 2 Quote

About half the lakes I'm currently rotating through are Auto Chart candidates ~ too bad I couldn't do it through the Ice - might help make the hard water season more useful. A-Jay 2 Quote

In new water it's the cat's PJs. I just bought an Ulterra, so I'm a few years from an Ultrex. Quote

Obi_Wan Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I know this is an old topic, but wanted to get any more info you are willing to share. Love the look and idea of this boat. I know many complain aluminum boats gets pushed around by the wind more than fiberglass, but doesn't look like these would. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted February 5, 2018 Super User Posted February 5, 2018 Good stuff ^^^! Thanks for taking the time. I got to crawl around a Crestliner Basshawk 1750. I agree, the port console option makes it a little tight, and it also eats up some bow deck real estate. The other thing I notice, it was not easy to open and access the center rod storage. You really have to be in the seating pit, not on the deck. I guess I'm used to keeping the rods on the port side. Otherwise, I liked the boat. Was disappointed the Lund dealer didn't bring any Pro-V Bass. They seemed focused on the Fury and Impact models, and the larger, trolling style boats like the Baron. Crestliner had a bunch of these on display as well. It makes sense, given we're on Lake Ontario. 1 Quote

Its lighter according to the specs. I love the look and idea of the Lund. Quote

Thank you for your input, as always I do appreciate it. I am a fan of black. My last three trucks, including the current one were/are black. And I know all to well the challenges that come with it. Still, I do like the red too and since I'm selling the Red GTO to help with the Lund Project Funding, I could justify it that way. Still, I am leaning Back to Black. Maybe I could get a Bass Resource Wrap on it. A-Jay I bought the dark gray and really like it. Always thought about a wrap too. Has anyone got a bassresource (or other) wrap? Cost? 1 Quote

So don’t buy it because it’s lighter, it’s just a little less expensive. Here’s a mini-review I wrote on it after seeing it at the January 2018 Minneapolis Boat Show: I bought the Lund Pro-V Bass last year... and very happy with it. I was at the Minneapolis Boat Show yesterday. Their sister company Crestliner has come out with their welded version of the Pro-V Bass called the “Bass Hawk.” Will have 1875 and 1775 models. Built on the Bass Hawk platform so it’s a deep V. The 1775 has a 4 stroke ProxS 115 they say has great hole shot and tops out 45-48 mph. Bench and pedestal seating models for multi species guys. I think is priced to compete with a lot of Mod-V’s yet has a better ride/tracking. Glad I have the PVB, but if I were in the market and looking for a less expensive and good option to a mod-V I’d really think about. Better rough water ride than a mod-V, and you could also rig with a shallow water jack plate for skinny waters and it would be pretty versatile without breaking the bank. 1 Quote

I also had a chance to see the 1875 and 2075 ProV bass XS models as well as the Crestliner 1750 and 1850 Basshawk models a couple weeks ago at the Chicago boat show. If you have the money, IMO the Lund is a better option. I prefer the layout and the space. That being said, the only real dislikes I had with the Basshawk was the lack of leg room at the helm in the 1750, which is available with 3 across seating only, and the lack of lockable storage. A moderate to well rigged 1750 Basshawk will run $35k out the door with a 150 fourstroke. The Lund 1875 starts at that price point. The 1875 Lund and the 1850 Basshawk are priced similarly. 3 Quote
Super User Further North Posted February 7, 2018 Super User Posted February 7, 2018 Thanks for the info on the Bass Hawk models. I was curious, but not enough to deal with crowds at a boat show. Quote
