Junebugman Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 How can they call it a bass boat when its not "per se" how far down do you have to reach to lip your bass? On the old lund pro bass boats they were low enough to lip land your fish multi species imo isn't really a bass boat per se for 32000 you could buy a "real" nice bass boat and not have to use a net like me although one of these years I'll have to break down and buy one maybe lol. The pig on my avatar was lip landed by the way. Whatever you buy I'm sure you'll enjoy it jmho. Junebugman Quote

D Fiene Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 The boat is home! Saturday it gets wet. 2 things for any prospective buyers. The second console is on back order from the manufacturer and if you get the fortrex the Lund cover will NOT fit. I have to get a custom cover made. I would post pictures but it says they are too large? 1 Quote

Congrats ~ I'm still waiting for one - First week of May is next projected production run.  I'll also have the second console, hope they have them in by then. Sorry to hear about the cover & Fortrex fitment issue. I'll be contacting my dealer Monday to discuss this. Might have to change things up before productions starts. Perhaps one of the Minn Kota quick release or universal mounting brackets would help solve the cover deal.  Any issues with the Talon & associated mounting hardware ? Was there any "modification" needed to ensure the tilt brackets operated properly ? btw ~ if you're interested in a cover for your O/B as well as the Talons - this is a very nice product. http://www.tuffskinz.net/ A-Jay  Quote
D Fiene Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 The factory Lund cover connects to the back of the bow. The fortrex is too long and too low to allow this. Even if you could attach the cover the fortrex would rub on the cover. I'm just going to have a cover made that goes over the trolling motor and is notched out for the talons. The talons needed the 6" riser bracket to clear with the tilt brackets. The next issue to resolve is I may need a different prop, unless the verado needs a bit of time to loosen up. I have 3 hrs on it and I can only get 5600rpms out of the motor with an "empty" boat. I should be at the high end of the max window so when loaded it's still in the range. Mercury states 5800-6400 rpm. Anyone with a L4 verado have any input on this? 1 Quote

Thank You. One of the deals with being the first humans to take first production run delivery of a new design is we have to endure the Tweeks. I'll be passing the "6 " Riser Bracket" info on to my dealer.  I'm having ALL of the aftermarket options installed at & by the dealer. This will provide an opportunity for me to be present during the work - in fact the dealership invited me. I'll be taking them up on that invitation. I'm that guy. I went with the Optimax and the prop upgrade (Tempest Plus I think) so I'll see how that goes. Which screw are you running ? A-Jay Quote
D Fiene Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 23" tempest plus. At 5600rpm I'm turning 56mph. If I drop a pitch and get the rpms up I think 58-60 is reasonable. It's very stable and the holeshot is impressive to say the least. I can take a pic of the transducer placement to save some trial and error for you. I adjusted them this morning after my time on the water yesterday. They read perfect now. 1 Quote

D Fiene Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 A few more pics. The console arrived and transducer location. The 21 pitch tempest plus wasn't enough, it would easily run into the rev limiter. I have a 22 tempest plus now, 3 times a charm. I hope 2 Quote

Texas Angler Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 So I have had mine for almost two months now. The only issue I am having with the boat is screws and nuts are coming loose a lot. I have had to go back tighten a lot of them up again. I tournament fish and live on a lake, so its on the water every weekend.  Everything else about the boat is outstanding. 1 Quote
