zach t Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 In honor of my wife, who is deathy afraid of frogs. Black with red flake, garlic, some with rattles and eyes. Slightly bouyant. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Dude, those things are SICK! Let us know how they work!!! Do they float with a hook in 'em? Quote
zach t Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 No, they won't float with a hook, but I am going to attempt to inject air in them, one way or the other. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Cool. What do you have in mind for the air injection? Quote
Bass Junkie Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Just a suggestion but can you put Styrofoam in the frog? Like mold it into the center during pouring. Just wondering... Quote
Steven Ladner Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Just a suggestion but can you put Styrofoam in the frog? Like mold it into the center during pouring. Just wondering... Not sure if that would work. The plastic is poured typically around 350 degrees, really could affect the styrofoam. Nice work Zach, especially adding the eyes. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 try stirring the plastic before pouring after heating in a microwave. Sometimes this will make the plastic have alot of bubbles. Bam, it floats. 8-) Also leave out the salt is another good way. Quote

That could certainly affect the styrofoam : Quote
Steven Ladner Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 That could certainly affect the styrofoam : Styrofoam's melting point is around 250 degrees. Either way, common sense should have told you that it wouldn't have held up Zach, how's the action? The leg design from that mold is real unique compared to others. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Just shootin' out ideas..... LOL. I was thinkin' inside, and the stuff should last as long as the bait.... Oh well.... :'( LOL Quote
Steven Ladner Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 No problem BJ, it's all good. Something along the lines of a metal insert such as the one used on Bears Hollow Swimbait could possibly work Zach. Quote
zach t Posted June 10, 2010 Author Posted June 10, 2010 YEAH, styrofoam would be a little noxious. I haven't checked the action. Will be using them tomm. I think it will be more subtle than even the yum. They are certainly smaller on every respect. I am thinking about adding some flair to the legs in order to bulk it up. Appreciate the help with making it float Quote
zach t Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 LOL. Not well. The fish just weren't doing it Friday. i also learned something about double dipping the baits. The legs loose sensitivity when you re-dip them. I won't do that again. Quote
