Super User iabass8 Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 So this is happening..... 2 Quote
Super User deep Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 Considering it's more difficult to break a reel than a rod, maybe they'll have better luck this time. 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 Hmm... With their reputation for rods, why would anyone try their reels? 9 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 No chance in hades for me. Quote
Big C Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I love their rods, but reels? The casting will come in left and right hand retrieves, looks like it only comes in 6.3:1, it comes with two interchangeable handles, and weighs 7.2 to 7.6 ounces. They have two models one with 6 bearings ($149) and one with 11 bearings ($249), so it's actually a fairly expensive reel. They are going to have a spinning reel also, that will some how be able to switch reel speeds from 4.7:1 to 6.7:1 We'll see, but it will be hard for me to switch from Daiwa to Carrot Stix when it comes to reels. Especially considering the price. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 Carrotjunk reel or Chronarch ? Such a difficult choice ..... hmmm, nah. 3 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 " I can't wait for these Carrot Stix reels to come out!!" Said no one ever. 11 Quote
bass raider Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Oh my goodness. Seems like nowadays if a company makes a rod they have to make their own reels too... Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 Next thing you know Daiwa will put TWS on their STEEZ 2 Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 So here is my two cents on this company. I am a Boston guy. Up here Charlier Moore is akin to Roland Martin everywhere else. I like Charlie very entertaining and great guy. He is extremely generous and after he was too busy to do a guide trip for me last year mailed me a package of free goodies gear, books, autographs, spices, hats etc over $200.00. So my Dad watches Charlie Moore and its about the time I get into fishing. He wants a carrot stick because Charlie Moore uses one. So naturally Father's day rolls around and I get him one. That was five years ago. He broke his first one, got a replacement and you can add an additional rod for cheap. So I get myself one. 2 years later my dad breaks his again. For a guy that fishes regularly they are fine if your not highsticking or cracking the whip on a hooks. If you have a newer guy/gal on the Rod its a matter of time till this thing explodes. Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Fail i wonder if these reels will cause a rod breakage when you set the hook. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 The looks are decent, but I doubt you'll find one in my boat unless someone else brings it to use. Quote

EricTheAngler Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 They look nice but there company's reputation is not the best to say the least... Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted January 21, 2016 Super User Posted January 21, 2016 thanks but no thanks. i'll stick with the proven leaders in the reel game. 1 Quote
cddan Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 They use carrots to make the reels too? 1 Quote
Grantman83 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Looks like an okuma Citrix.... they are trying to re build their brand which I respect. A new owner took over and is trying to bring them back...no problem with that imo. However, he chose one heck of a challenge lol 1 Quote
PourMyOwn Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Why revive a damaged brand name? Makes no sense to me, especially with the way the brand gets trashed around here-if you guys are any indication, they will be losing some money in a big way. 1 Quote
DirtyDeuceGoose Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Like Grant said, somebody is trying to revive the name. I haven't seen him around for a while though. And we were just talking about Daiwa losing it 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted January 23, 2016 Super User Posted January 23, 2016 I agree, these guys would have been better off starting a brand new company. At least then they would be starting from zero, instead of negative. Quote
Fishinthefish Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I wonder if this is a ploy, they're secretly designed to break other rods with use so Carrot isn't the only company with the problem of excessive breaking? If not I don't understand in what world a company with such a poor quality rating would make a baitcaster. The pinnacle of elitism when it comes to quality. Quote
LOZ_ Bass Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Can't wait to see these new reels from Carrot Stix. Very exciting. Been using these rods since 2007 and never had any issues. All major rod manufacturers are in the reel market also. They are trying to build a brand and expand their product line. 1 Quote
