Buckeye Ron Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Well, after a very mild December here in Ohio, old man winter has arrived with a vengeance tonight. Outside temps near zero with minus 25 wind chills. Heard screws popping out on the deck today, now that's cold. Gonna be brutal getting out and walking into work in the morning, straight into this killer west wind. Hope it's nice and warm in your neighborhood. One more winter after this one and its adios to snow and ice and hello Gulf of Mexico! 1 Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 It's dropped 25° since noon, it's howling out. -9 wind chill, about 5° air temp..it's going to be a brutal couple days.. Ajay, how cold in your home? 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 It is 6 outside right now. Wind chill is about -10 degrees. Quote
Ronald K Smith Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Temp up to 7 here this morning, wind chill down to -7 to -9. Suppose to warm up to 18. Need several days of no rain and warmer weather to finish pouring concrete. Hope our oncoming spring will be great this year. Quote
Buckeye Ron Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Thankfully the wind died down over night as the wind chill is "only" -13 this morning. Supposed to get up to 9 by this afternoon. Oh well, January is half over now so Spring isn't too far away. 1 Quote

Ajay, how cold in your home? Ask me again why I go to Mexico . . . btw- we're getting a fairly heavy blanket of snow right now - I'll post up a pic later. It's impressive even for this place. It was between -17* and -23* this morning on my way into work. Currently sitting at -18* with wind chill at -30*. Hopefully it doesn't get any windier, because that's with only a 5 mph breeze. Why do I choose to live here again? 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 Well, I lived in Colorado for 17 years and learned what "cold' really is a few times. Now that I have grown accustom to "moderate" winters here in the Mid South, anything below freezing feels COLD to me! It's 22* this morning and we are expecting 18* for an overnight low. Too cold! Super User A-Jay Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 It's all relative - when I lived in Southern NJ I thought 25 was cold. But when it's 50 degrees warmer inside your freezer than it is outside, I'm going to call that cold. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 A-Jay & WIGuide, that's really cold. Brutal. I've been inside the Arctic circle, on the flight deck of Nimitz, launching Aircraft, in November..thing is, I can't remember the actual values of just how cold it was, lol. That's the coldest, most frigid environment I have ever worked in.. 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 I like it when it's 10 degrees a the ice screws are in the tires on the dirtbike and the roads are icy. I'm In the leathers and ripping up the streets on my street legal two stroke bike. As I pass the local Harley riders in there trucks with there H-D stickers in there rear windows they just shake there heads in disbelief. The adrenilan is pumping so hard I don't feel the cold. I need to do this soon it makes me feel alive. wearing those hunting insulated bibs helps. Quote
Buckeye Ron Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Wind chill tonight -15 but warming up the next few days in anticipation of snow coming in Friday. Quote
