I.rar Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Looking to replace a president spin cast that's been nothing but problems for my 4 year old daughter. I'm stuck between the the goldcast and omega pro in the smallest size. They both seem to be the best of the current spin cast reels from what I've read. Would they be OK to fish saltwater? I'm not looking to get a spinning reel for her just yet so please don't suggest one. Any opinions ? Quote
I.rar Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 It may see saltwater a few times a year but mainly freshwater use. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I would probably buy the daiwa as I had silvercasts back in the 80s when I was a kid, but omegas get great reviews so that's probably your best bet. Quote
I.rar Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 I found the Daiwa for about $50 and the omega for $60. The president was a great size for her little hands. Would either of these two be too large in their smallest model? My other option would be to send the president in for about $7 and hope we get one that works correctly. Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 my dad only fishes his trusty old goldcasts.... he's had one for about 15 years or more i guess and we just got him his second one last summer. he swears by the goldcast as the top dog in spincast reels. the few times i've used it i could tell it was a quality reel, i just don't use the spincast reels at all. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2016 Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2016 Those goldcast are basically bulletproof. Quote
I.rar Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 I've never seen one in person. Is the 80 size small enough for little hands? Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 i would say yes on the 80 size, but little is relative i guess.... dad uses the 100 size and i would think it is a good one for little hands so i'd assume the 80 a good fit too.... Quote
Firefish Alumacraft Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I have a Omega Pro Z03 and its a great reel. Quote
