Super User Sam Posted January 17, 2016 Super User Posted January 17, 2016 Glenn, when you attend the Classic could you ask the reel manufacturers if there is any way they could add a line counter to their reels? Some saltwater reels have a spool counter so the technology is there. And yes, a line counter on a reel will increase its weight but we will offset that deficiency with the knowledge that we have the correct amount of line on our reels. Individual line counters are of poor construction and difficult to master. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to the gang's input, too. Thanks and have a fun time at the Classic. Quote

Because your wanting of an unnecessary extra moving part in something very few would see a benefit in having is a waste of added weight/extra mechanics in a bass fishing reel. your reasoning behind wanting one is because a "normal" line counter isnt accurate. Hate to break it to you but the same type of counter or even a less quality one would more than likely be added to a bass fishing reel. You want something that gives you the most accurate reading...again walk it off with a tape measurer. You will know for certain its accurate then. Quote
