So let me start by saying im  new at using baitcaster reels...i just received a new citica today...when i tighten the cast control knob the reel handle also becomes harder to turn...i have to have the cast control knob set pretty loose in order for the handle to turn without any friction... is ths normal? Any help on this would be appreciated. ...

No that is not normal but before I jump to any conclusion, you already have line on this reel? and you are tightening the cast control knob to slow down the descent of a lure dropped to the ground in free spool?

check this video on how to setup your reel

No i dont have line on it yet...when i took it out of the box i noticed the handle wasnt turning easily so i started adjusting the cast control...the more i tighten it the harder the handle is to turn...

Just my thoughts but it sounds like you may be tightening the cast control knob too much.  It is normal for the handle to be difficult to turn if you have the spool tension knob overly tight.

It starts to happen with the control knob set just tight enough where the spool wont move from side to side...

If that's the case then something is wrong with your reel.  Will the spool spin while the handle is hard to turn?

Seems odd, the only link that I can think of between the cast control and handle is the amount of tension you apply to the spool shaft.

Take the cast control cap off and make sure all of the shims that are shown in schematics are installed and in the correct order.   Other than that I would have to see it myself.

So i took the cap off.... and the cast control spacer and the spool tension spacer are missing i think that solves the problem....thanks for all the quick responces.....
