TxHawgs Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Need storage bins a pretty good amount, have mostly Plano now and a cpl. Flambeau. Flambeau has some nice bins. I definitely need some bigger stuff. So which co. are you using, or do you use both and what are some of your favorite models, thanks guys. Quote
alzun664 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Plano for me. As for favorite models, I've been meaning to upgrade to their 3600 guide series tackle bag. I'm still lugging around an old 3 tray Plano box stuffed with way more tackle than it's probably supposed to carry. Quote
Midwest Fisherman Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Like you, I have both as well however I find the Plano 3700 stowaway fits in my bag a little easier due to the rounded edges. I also like the Plano 3700 stowaway deep. FYI, Menards carries them and are the cheapest I've found. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted January 15, 2016 Super User Posted January 15, 2016 Plano. Most of their boxes are made here in the 'States. Quote
Evan K Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I use all Plano boxes, 3600 size, except for my soft plastics. I keep them in the original bags and all in a long, deep Flambeau 4510 box, like a filing cabinet. It works super well. Other than that it's the extra thin, Plano 3601 boxes for me. Quote
KDW96 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Plano for the most part. Various sizes and style, will get you the most organized. Dont get set on using only one style or size, because youll either have alot of wasted space and extra wieght. Quote
bunkerbstr Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I use both brands - I have the regular old 3600, 3700 as well as a bunch of the newer and older Plano waterproof models. I recently picked up a half dozen of the Plano waterproof boxes - 3700 shallow and the deep model. The deep model (I forget the model #) lids were so warped upon arrival that they wouldn't close. I sent email to Plano along with a photo showing, they told me to take back to store where purchased. I ordered them from TW and wasn't about to ship back a couple boxes, it'd cost as much to ship as it would if I bought new ones. Anyway, with that said, I like the Plano waterproof boxes just fine, they're solid and last a long time. I've had some of the previous style for close to a decade. I also more recently picked up a few of the Flambeau waterproof boxes. They have the rust inhibitor dividers, latches similar to the waterproof Plano model and seem solid though are also more brittle in terms of the plastic on both the box and the latches. I haven't broken the boxes or latches though they latches do seem like it's a matter of time before they'll snap off. The Plano latches are more of a Rubbermaid kind of material, more flexible but not completely unbreakable. So with that, I own both, like both, but a little upset with Plano's customer service and the response received when I took the time to show them a faulty product that allegedly has a "Limited Lifetime warranty." Super User iabass8 Posted January 15, 2016 Super User Posted January 15, 2016 Planos. I don't think I own any Flambeau. Quote
tander Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Never used anything but Plano 3700, never felt the need to try anything else. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted January 16, 2016 Super User Posted January 16, 2016 Flambeau zrust boxes are legit. I wont store my go to lures in anything else 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I have both, but since I discovered the Flambeau with Z Rust, they are all I purchase now. Their 1/2 satchel is great for storing your soft plastics in their original bags. I can grab what I need before heading out and stuff the majority of it in two of them. Quote
Brocephus Fishing Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Anything Flambeau. The WP5012 model is one of my favorites for storing crankbaits. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I just got some Flambeau's with the ZeRust after they were marked down so heavily at TW's sale. The reviews seem like the ZeRust is the real deal so I'll stick some of my non-plastic stuff in there. The latches lock down securely and the dividers fit fine. Against the Planos, it basically comes down to whether you want the blue dividers or the clear dividers between compartments. Quote
junyer357 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Both. Along with bass pro shops. Looking at bait coffins but im not sure i can convince myself to spend that much. Only complaint ive ever seen on the coffins is price though. Quote
MDbassin Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I use both the flambeau boxes for me break easier then the Plano ones I have 3 each of Plano and flambeau and all 3 flambeau utility boxes have cracks in them the Plano's don't. But for big tackle boxes I have my dads old flambeau 3 tray and it is still holding up very well for the age of the box it still is like new. Sometimes the latch gets loose as they get older but its still solid Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 1, 2016 Super User Posted February 1, 2016 3 hours ago, J Francho said: Either. Same.................I am not paid by either one of them, no need to keep it exclusive. I do tend to favor the Flambeau boxes with the "z-rust" dividers for my hard baits, and terminal tackle, while the Plano's tend to get used for soft plastic, or other non-rust gathering items. I prefer the 3700 size. I have 8 of them in my boat, that can be transfered and all fit in a tackle bag I have for when I jump on someone else's boat. 1- Yum Dingers 1- Chigger Craws and Pit Boss's 1- Jigs 1- Shallow cranks, frogs 1- terminal tackle 1- mid depth cranks/jerkbait/lipless cranks 1- drop shot plastics 1- worms and grubs Quote
kcdinkerz Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I use both brands but for some reason the little dividers fit more snuggly on my Plano. Had to use super glue on a few flambeu Quote
