Line for jigs

After finally catching my first jig fish and then some this season, I got a little and bought a bunch more jigs and plan on using them once this ice goes away. Being that I am still new to using a jig, I want know know what kind of line everyone uses to throw 1/4-3/8 oz. jigs. Brand? Type? Lb. Test? I used 12# Pline flouroclear and I am wondering if that is enough or is there a better option for this application?

I use flouro the majority of the time. 15-20 lb pending on the structure. Open water dragging, 15 lb. Brush/laydowns, usually 17-20.

50# PP Braid, with all the skirt strands I don't think that the braid even matters. But that's nothing a flouro leader wouldn't fix if it's that bothersome to you. The places where I choose to toss jigs into usually calls for braid, if I was to use flouro I'd be retying every other cast.

14-20 pound triliene big game flourocarbon... never breaks and is really cheap and is the best line ive ever used. This line has caught multiple 7/8 pounders throughout a given day and i never even had to retie. Give it a try!

15lb Tatsu (I used to use 14lb Sniper, but want to try Tatsu this year) for all my jig and T-rigs unless I'm punching mats then its 55lb braid.

Berkley Trilene Big Game ( anywhere from 10 to 17 lbs test ) 90% of the time, P-Line CXX 12-14 lbs test when I fish shale like rock.

That's a good line. I currently have a spool of 12lb Sunline Model FC. Last year I used Abrazx FC in 14lb. As far as test goes, I generally go as light as I can, since my waters are pressured and lack heavy cover.

For me it depends on the clarity of the body of water. If it is a clear lake, or it's during the spawn, I will use somewhere between 15-20# fluorocarbon. You want line with less stretch because you need more power in your hook sets. If it is murky or stained water I usually go with 40-50# braid. Over all I prefer using the braid (less stretch and seems to be more sensitive), but you have to play it to the conditions

That line is a decent choice for our neck of the woods although I personally prefer 30lb. braid.  I fished 12lb. Stren on my jig rod for years until I started using braid.

  I mostly use 30lb or 40lb braid as well.  In the early spring and right before winter are the only times the water is clear around my area, otherwise its stained to murky, and I get all the bites in the world on braid.  In the other clear water seasons, I may use straight fluoro.  I don't like to tie a fluoro leader to braid for jigs, its a major weak spot for the line to break for the places I would toss a jig, into some heavy cover!
