Never had that issue on the 7 croix rods I own. I'd send them an email or put a call in. They'll either fix it or replace it.

They have a 5 year warranty, so unless it's older than that they should service you.  You will have to probably pay freight to and from.  Just because you won the rod doesn't mean they won't service their product.  Their customer service is great and you're a call away from an answer. http://stcroixrods.com/contact-us

What rod and which reel?  A friend of mine had his reel constantly come loose so he switched reels and the same problem and he switched rods and the same problem. He got a new rod and it worked great so when we looked at the reel seats of the rods his reels would come loose from, they were all rear locking reel seats. BTW, these were all spinning rods and reels so it may not apply but he found he can't use rear locking reel seats because the way he holds the rod he ends up loosening the nut in back, it sounds crazy but that is how it is, he now only buys rods with front locking reel seats.

Yes, I've also had problems with the Premier reel seat. Just tighten it occasionally and you'll be fine. However, I haven't had any problems with the reel seat on my St. Croix Avid X.

Of the 9 St. Croix's I have, I haven't had that issue with any of them. Check the rod to make sure you aren't inadvertently loosening it by the way you hold it. If not give St. Croix a call. They have great customer service. They can tell by the serial number how old the rod is and if it's still under warranty.

I have had this problem on a Premier spinning rod with the President reel. I fixed it by wrapping some cloth athletic tape around the nut and also covering the rest of the exposed threads. No issues anymore and it's a little more comfortable, too.

I have an Avid X that slips sometimes when it's underload from fighting a fish. I talked with St. Croix and they said they would replace it, all I need to do is send it in. I'll probably do that some time this winter.
