Super User Master Bait'r Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 I love wakebaits. My favorite is probably the bettencourt rat though, for some reason that profile just produces rage in big fat fish and they aren't even expensive IMO. Maybe it's the realism, that nobody throws a rat like that, the red meat or the action in general I don't know but they are just a blast to throw and fish from the edge of my seat. There are so many good ones out there though, and I can't wait to put some nautical miles on my Silent Killer this year too. Topwater rocks. Nothing quite like it! Quote
imagine29028 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Know this doesnt fit the exact definition of what youre looking for...but it is a jointed wakebait ;-) Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 18, 2016 Super User Posted January 18, 2016 Straying from the subject of jointed wake baits for a moment, while I own a few different jointed wake baits, I get bit more on non-jounted ones. Mann's Minus 1 in the med & large sizes and the Timber Tiger DC1 are my first two choices when the subject is wake baits. Most of the time I throw them on the same rod that I throw lipless cranks on, i.e. a Falcon Bucco 7' Trap Caster, with a Shimano 200 TEGT and 17 or 20 lb mono. These baits all weigh in the half ounce range, so distance isn't really an issue with this particular casting rig. Quote
mnbassman23 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 If you really want to stay around that 20$ range I'd say spro rat 40. There are a few guys that have had their Spro rat split and guys complain but I've also seen Bill and Spro take care of the issues and replace those baits. The slammer is an awesome bait if you decide to spend a bit more. Never thrown a Mickey jr so I cant comment on it. Quote
