I'm looking for a jointed wake bait, with a bill, and no more than 4 or 5 inches.  It looks like the Jackall Mikey Jr seems like a good choice, but before I go spend $20 on this I'd like some opinions on it from anyone that has used it or similar products.  Mainly focused on it putting off a quality wake, but would also prefer it to be jointed for better "S" action.

livetarget makes joined wakebaits in bluegill, pumpkinseed, tilapia and sardine or you could always get the spro 30 rat

I don't know how a rat would go over here in Missouri, but I just checked out that jointed wake bait and then stumbled across the hollow bodied Blue Gill.  That's getting bought for sure.  Thanks for adding another lure to my "must have for spring" collection, lol.

I catch fish on a rat and MS Slammer all the time in KS. You could fish that little Spro Rat 30 on standard gear no problem. Don't be afraid, I promise the fish aren't.

The only jointed ones I have experience with is the Lucky Craft wake crank and the Koppers Live Target Bluegill wake bait and both are good baits. TW has the Jackall Aragon SSR but only in brown craw as it is discontinued but you might want to check that out as well.

I like the dressed treble hook on that Lucky Craft wake crank and the Live Target Bluegill is looking pretty nice too.  Seems like they're all within a few dollars of each other so I've got some more research to do.  Either way, I can tell you I'm getting that hollow body bluegill after seeing the videos of how it flops around!!!

Nice!  I would also recommend the Slammer. The SPRO Rat in 40 size is also good for fishing on any rod down to a Medium from what I can tell. I've tied mine on several rods. Mini-Slammer is light too !

You all seem pretty confident in the Spro Rat, I might have to give it a shot this spring.  So many lures to buy!!!!  Mikey Jr, Live Target hollow body Bluegill, Lucky Craft Wake Crank, possibly a rat (which is still blowing my mind that Bass are attracted to rat lures).

I use morning wood rats, spro rats, slammes etc. (lots of wakers 5 to 9 inches) and catch fish in Mid Missouri on them all the time. Dont hesitate.

Fair enough.  That's quite a few votes for rats in the Midwest so I think you've all got me convinced to try it.  I know how to pick out fish lures, but I'm guessing with rat lures I should just go with a typical gray or brown?  Lol, not so sure about the chrome or purple making the cut.

Don't overlook the Shellcracker G2. It divers 3ft or so, but when reeled slowly it creates a great wake and catches the snot out of em!

yep, lots of great wake baits out there, The Shellcracker G2 that Bass_Fanatic mentioned is another great bait.

The Lucky Craft LC Wake is a great bait, but if you buy it on TW try to buy those already in stock. I had to wait 6 months for mine to come in.

Go with the hippy rat. My buddy kills them on the 50 size in that color.

I've caught fish on both the Mikey and Mikey Jr.  They float, but you have to work it real slow to keep it on the surface.  All the fish I have caught on it the bait was just below the surface, so it wasn't really waking on the surface.  I have one tied on ready to use.  I would probably get the standard mikey not the jr.

Lol, you just blew my mind.  I'm starting to come around to the idea that bass just aren't smart or they are just incredibly hungry all the time.

I gotta get that Mikey.  Went to Gander Mt yesterday and got a ZX Waking Minnow to satisfy the bait monkey.  I was about to order the Mikey and Mikey Jr but couldn't justify paying $7 in shipping for 2 lures.  Guess I'll just have to get a big order going because I can't find them in stores anywhere.  d**n nice fish you got there!

Oh Jake, Jake, Jake I applaud you efforts to satisfy the bait monkey but I fear it is a little like an alcoholic buying a beer to satisfy his addiction. You might want to look at a Mann's minus 1. They are short and compact and mine wake well. Also in bigger baits I have a phobia about feeding pike and pickerel expensive baits so I will throw an Arbogast version AC Plug which you can get for short money and in 7.5, 9.5 and 12 inch. They wake well and you can get them on E-bay cheap cheap cheap. Of course the Slammers and the Pats Perch are great too. TW is also now selling the Wooden Baits Rat that really works well but you are getting up there in price too but they are well made and are real fish magnets.

I originally bought the mikey to get to that free shipping.
