I've been appointed Tournament Committee Chairman of my local club for the next 2 years.  It is more of a social club than a serious fishing club so it might be a bit of a challenge.  I would like to have some fun tournaments to draw more anglers to the lake.  I think 1 will be a "Barbie Pole" tournament and maybe 1 where everyone has to pick 1 lure out of a bag (without seeing inside) and fish with only that lure for the whole event.  Anyone have any ideas for fun tournaments?

How about competition fishing with no electronics. No maps. No aids what so ever. Make fishermen fish going by the seat of their pants!

Blind fishing competition!

Then we can see who the real anglers are! Or, the lucky ones! :D

Would like to see more competitions like this! Let's see how well they fish on land without a boat and without any electronics.Put all the fishermen on the same section of land with the same lures. Now this would be something to see!

I see this all the time at Bass Pro Shops! ;)

I want to see them do it in the water!

Lol that place doesn't count! Most bass fishermen rely on boats and electronics way too much, would like to see these same fishermen read a body of water from land, now that would be something to see!

How about a Calcutta jackpot tournament where the anglers are auctioned off with the money going to the person who bought the winning angler in the auction. This is usually a secondary jackpot in addition to the main tournament, So the angler could win the main tournament but the person who bought him at auction wins the jackpot money. You can also bid and buy yourself.

You could also do a fixed tackle bag tourney where each angler has the same small bag of lures to compete with and if you lose them all you're done fishing. In Stuart FL, DOA lures used to sponsor an inshore tournament of this type. Bonus is if you can get a lure MFR to sponsor and provide the lures.

and maybe a light line tourney where everyone is required to use a 2lb. leader

We also had what I call a "zone" tournament. You have several zones sectioned off in the lake and each angler draws and whatever zone they get they fish for an hour, then they all switch and fish different zones in the lake until the next hour and so on until all the anglers fish all the zones(time permitting)

Trolling motor, only tournament for guys with bass boats.

Using the same bait, only, for pond fishing, such as only using a Zoom green pumpkin trick worm on a shaky head.

Both can grate on your nerves.

I like the idea of everyone using the same bait throughout the tourney.
