Fentawn Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Fished the banks of the C-4 canal close to the Palmetto Expressway this morning. Started of slow but managed to land some nice peacock bass. Heck of a fight these guys put up. Ended up catching 4 peacocks after a couple of hours. Quote

Weld's Largemouth Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Awesome! Do you use live bait or lures? 1 Quote
Fentawn Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 I was using live bait shiners. Worked a worm and a crank bait after I ran out of shiners but no luck with that. 1 Quote

Super User soflabasser Posted January 11, 2016 Super User Posted January 11, 2016 Congratulations on catching peacock bass! They are one of my favorite fish to catch in freshwater. 1 Quote
Fentawn Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 They put up a great fight. I lost one that rocketed under a bridge and tangled the line among the bridge support beams. Clever fellow 1 Quote
Fentawn Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Ok, went back yesterday after work to fish the same canal. Was having no success so headed further east by coral gables and landed this little guy. I was trying to land some more peacocks but this was a nice surprise. Was shocked to catch a baracuda in a canal so far from the ocean. 1 Quote
Frise Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 You'll find a ton of fish in there I have only fished there once considering it is pretty far from Broward but when I went I actually managed to catch a jack in there along with a few peacocks and Mayan cichlids. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted January 13, 2016 Super User Posted January 13, 2016 That's one of the many reasons bank fishing here is so good!We have several saltwater fish that live in our freshwater canals. Snook,Tarpon,Mullet, and Jack Crevalle are the most common ones, but we also have Barracuda,Redfish,Mangrove Snapper,Cubera Snapper,Sleeper Gobies,Bull Sharks, and other saltwater fish in our freshwater canals. 1 Quote
