Big Easy Bassin' Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Great day in NOLA City Park. Started out a little rainy, but once the rain ended the fishing started. The LMB were coming out of the water crushing the shad. Started off with the popper, but couldn't seem to hook up with them when they would hit it. Switched to a 1/4oz Rat-L-Trap (chrome w/ blue back) and it was on. Little rough considering if I didn't hook a fish I was pulling in a wad of grass that weighed as much as a fish, but cleaning off the lure was well worth it. 17 LMB. Not a single dink. Every fish was 2# and up. And to top it off I can now update my PB on my profile!!!!!! 5lb 15oz!!!!!!!! Wish I could've hit that 6# mark, but it will come. 7 Quote

Fentawn Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Hey, I would have had the same face too. No feeling like getting a new PB Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted January 10, 2016 Super User Posted January 10, 2016 Congrats on the new PB. You are an honest angler. Most guys would have rounded up to six lbs. 3 Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 14, 2016 Super User Posted January 14, 2016 Have you tried Audubon Park Lagoon? Used to fish it all the time when I was growing up in NOLA. Quote

No I've never tried Audobon Park. Any good fish? Couple of guys I met Sunday in City Park told me they fished Lafreniere Park a couple weekends ago. They caught 20 or so but all dinks Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 15, 2016 Super User Posted January 15, 2016 Would expect dinks at Lafreniere Park. The Lagoon is big with lot of places to fish from St. Charles Avenue over towards Magazine Street. You can cast out to Monkey Island from the bank. Just make sure you have your fishing license as sometimes you will be checked. Let me know how you do. Quote
Big Easy Bassin' Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Sure will. Thanks for the tip! Quote
