JonahMiao Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Hey Guys! Today I was messing around with my baitcaster adjusting the braking system with Glenn's Video and when I set the braking system and put the spool back in and tried reeling it, it would be really laggy. Like if something was putting pressure on your line at a steady rate. Please help me fix this ;-; I have taken the spool out and put it back in many times before it broke! Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted January 9, 2016 Super User Posted January 9, 2016 Loosen the cast control knob...It's the knob located under the drag star on the handle side. 1 Quote

I.rar Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Did you disassemble the handle/drag assembly? The square nut (at least it was square on Shimanos) under the handle may have been too tight before reassembly and putting out constant drag pressure even with the drag star all the way loose. Quote

Expand no I didn't I changed my brake settings around and then it started happening, before I use to take the cap off without touching the brake and when I reassembled it, it was perfectly fine Quote
I.rar Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 What reel is it? Was the spool dropped? What exactly did you do when you had it open? Quote

Expand it is a really old real XD bass pro ETX 1000 lpha and I was going to let my little cousin use it so I was trying to use glenns recommended settings for someone new, when I opened it I popped 3 brakes loose and 3 still intact. did not drop the spool, and if I did I'm on carpet ;-; Quote

papajoe222 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Remove the spool and before reinserting, check the thumb release bar. It should be in the up (spool engaged) position. Back off the drag. remove the spool tension knob and reinsert the spool and side plate. If you have to force the side plate, there is likely something stuck where it shouldn't be. Possibly one of the brakes you loosened. Check them to make sure they're not turned. 1 Quote
Bruce424 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Ok well I don't think the spool is sitting in the pinion shaft correctly. Take the spool out examine it. Make sure no damage is to the shaft or nothing is bent. Quote
