I recently just paired up my Veritas 2.0 Winch with a Revo SX for fishing shallower crankbaits (8ft and under). I know i want to try fluorocarbon ( i used to use braid for everything). I also think i want to use a 12lb test but what brand ( not worried about $)? There are so many making fluorocarbon brands out there it is hard to choose, what do you guys think?

12# Sunline Sniper FC, the best out there. Throws like mono.

Well, if it's fluorocarbon I recommend Tatsu, but I don't think that is the best option for treble hooks in general and crankbaits in particular. My suggestion is Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo.  http://www.sunlineamerica.com/shooter-defier-armilo/

I'd stick with RW on this, or find a mono for those trebles, gunna want some give to keep those fish buttoned up.

I really like Sunlines Reaction FC for, well, reaction baits. It's got just a little bit of stretch to help like mono. I run that on my Spinnerbait and Chatterbait rods, and then 10lb CX on my deeper cranks.

12# Yo Zuri for all moving baits.

I use 12 pound invisx for my cranking, I tried and liked the sunline sniper also but none of the stores around me stock it so I have to order it. I really like the invisx and it is more readily available if something were to happen and I needed some and its never given me any trouble.

Most fluorocarbons have plenty of stretch.  Check out tackletour's tests.  I've only used 2 brands of fluorocarbon, and only had to break one.  Plenty of stretch.  When mono breaks, you check for nicks and retie.  When fluoro breaks you cut several feet off before retying.  At least that was my experience.

I really like Sniper FC, and I will also run PLine fluoro too.

I will also be trying out Sunline's new Assassin this year too.

To each his own, that's why it's a forum. But I take most of tackle tours tests with a grain of salt because like we are doing here they are giving their opinion.

Never seen the point in fluoro for cranking unless you just want to get every inch of depth possible. 10lb Big Game for deep to mid depth baits, 15lb for squarebills. If a fish breaks you off with that stuff, they earned it.

I couldn't care less which lines others use.  We all have our own ideas of what works best for us.  Would be a pretty boring world if we all thought alike.  I have to laugh every time I read how fluorocarbon line has no stretch.  When TT gives an opinion of a rod or reel, then it is just that.....their opinion and I may or may not agree with it.  However, when they test lines for stretch and breaking strength, how can it be just their opinion?

Quote from the first fluorcarbon test.

Surprisingly, a biproduct of our tensile test was our ability to watch the stretch in each of our line samples before they broke. We stopped short of collecting data on this observation due to a number of questionable variables, but the one thing we can clearly state is, all the fluorocarbon lines we tested have either the same, or in some cases, more stretch than our baseline Trilene XL.

My own results were the same.  The fluoro stretched like a rubber band.  When it broke, the end split just like in the picture in the test, and I wound up cutting several feet off.  This is fact....not my opinion.  Does it keep me from using fluoro?  No.  However, my use of fluoro is very limited. I feel mono and co-polymers work just as good for me in most cases and does it at a lot better price.

Some people use braid for everything including trebles.  Some people use fluoro for just about everything.  Do I care?  No.  Use what works for you.....but I will still give my opinion occasionally....and it is just that....my opinion.

I usually use 15 pound Big Game for fishing crankbaits.

12lb invisx has plenty enough stretch that i wouldn't be concerned there.  oddly enough, i don't care what i use for cranking as i don't think it has nearly the impact on cranking as other baits....  my opinion only.

i can comfortably crank with 30lb braid, 8lb yo zuri, 10lb mono or 12lb fluoro.  user preference as far as i'm concerned.

I fished the assassin since September and have been pleased. It's slick through the guides. Sensitive as well.
