SMITTY0045 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 So I've been eyeing these rods since they came up on TW and have been tempted to get one. I can't really find any reviews of their rods and obviously it's hard to drop $150 on a rod you don't know anything about besides the fact it looks cool.I was wondering if anyone had tried one out? I would probably be looking to get the IKOS Quote

Hogsticker Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I don't think you will get a lot of responses regarding the IKOS. In all honesty, for 50 bucks more you get twice the blank on the ZOLO B. Well worth it imo. Quote
Rusty Shackleford Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I have two diplomats for drop shotting and light spinning gear work that I really like. Also picked up a maestro that I'll try out this spring. Curious about the bc rods, specifically the powerbolt in the zolo line Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted January 9, 2016 Super User Posted January 9, 2016 Apologize. Didn't notice the IKOS. Quote

As of right now I usually stick within the $100-$160 price range: my higher dollar rods being used for jigs and Texas rigs primarily. I should probably look into both and see what the difference is Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 9, 2016 Super User Posted January 9, 2016 Call Alex, he often has sales and can make you a good deal. I have been using ALX custom NG+ rods for about 5 years, equal to NRX for 1/2 the price. Tom Quote

I am not sure what the NG+ blank is equal to, the current Zolo B off the self rods are made from NG Scrimless Carbon. Call Alex and ask him; ref serial number 201202 for a example. Tom Quote
Hogsticker Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 The Zolo B is built on Hydra ng blanks. It's a scrimless design and they fish beyond there price point imo. Just know going in most models built on mag bass blanks are a touch on the slow side if fast. I think most of the blanks measure out with a tip angle in the low 60s. Similar to the Kistler klx line of rods. The Ikos blank is built with a glass scrim so I'd imagine they're a little heavier and not as crisp and responsive. I believe both lines utilize the same Kigan guide train which are probably my 2nd favorite guides behind Fuji. The power ratings are pretty accurate as well so a medium fishes as such and the Zolo Bs make great multi purpose sticks. Definitely not one trick ponies. 1 Quote
