Redfish Spinnerbaits for Bass???

I got this in a bunch of tackle that was a Christmas gift. Anyone ever use it or one like it for bass? There are gold shiners one of the places I fish a lot. But it kinda looks small for bass. I'm gonna give it a shot when it warms a little. It's probably a little faster than I want from a SB at this water temp.

That one should work for bass too. I just ordered myself a couple of them with a willow blade because I am a huge swimbait fan and I have a ton of various swimbaits that would work on a lure like that one.

I like that it is built so I can change the jig/hook quickly.

Here in Florida I often use salt water tackle in freshwater and freshwater tackle in salt water. I never let the label stop me! If it works, it works. I have not used the spinner you show above though. I like how the spinner blade is moved forward out of the way so a fish can grab the hooked lure better. An interesting design.

I just picked up an in-line spinner advertised also for redfish and bass and walleye called the titanium terminator. I bought it because it said it was weedless and I wanted a spinner I could throw into some heavy vegetation for a different presentation and see how it well it works.

I tried it out when I bought it and put it on a 7:1 reel- big mistake! I now use this spinner on a 3.8:1. This lure works best slow. So i am looking forward to next spring and summer and try out both of them out in freshwater and saltwater. Thanks for posting this lure.

I have not used that exactly but have used plenty of jig heads with spinners on them that look a lot like what you have there. I used to put a big twist tail grub on or a small swimbait and tear up the little bass, bigger gills, and crappie in ponds on them things.

Probably twists line when reeled too fast? That's the only reason I never use in-line spinnerbaits. They flat work. You can see from the packaging on my SB that some come with willow blades. I really like gold, hammered blades. If this one works well, I might buy the other blade styles for it. This is not an item you see for sale at the local places away from the coast.

Kind of like a short arm spinnerbait. I have great success with short arm spinnerbaits more than regular ones. You may want to bend the arm up at between the head and r-bend to get the bait to plane over obstructions, IMHO. You can always put a skirt on it if the swim bait don't work for you.

Bass will jump all over that. The only disadvantage over a "standard" bass spinnerbait is that due to the short arm and loose jighead, it won't come through weeds as good, but its doable.

I saw some very big custom short arm spinnerbaits at outdoors shows a few years back but they never caught on with the masses. I assumed they didn't offer much of an advantage over the normal SB's. I'd forgotten them till now.

They've been around for a while and really excel in a helicopter type presentation, but I fished them every way imaginable. I love them. Check out Stan Sloane's (god rest his soul) Zorrow baits. His  long arm spinnerbaits accounted for the first, or one of the first, Bassmaster wins. I think it was Bob Murray who used the long arm baits to win the classic. Anyway, check out their short arm spinnerbaits to give you an idea of what I mean by bending the arm at the head.

In my experience, they provide more vibration and really come thru weeds really well. I know some may disagree with me with that statement, but I've caught 3 to 1 on a short arm than a long arm and don't use them as a technique specific lure.

I also think that the bait doesn't turn over as easy because the torque is closer to the arm (axis of rotation) and further away from the head. Again, my opinion and based on my observations.

My buddy has a pond loaded with large bluegill and stunted bass. I'll take a light spinning combo and use an 1/8 oz Beetle Spin to slay both species with the occasional 1 lb plus bass. I'll tie a crappie jig in a loop about a foot ahead of the Beetle Spin. You can occasionally catch two.

They work,  my buddy in Florida was killing it with that lure.
